Oh they crumpled up when you go off-roading, I’ve seen threads on it. Haha. Those are the same sliders on our trucks.

I’m full Filipino, but I was born in Oakland. Parents are from Illocos Norte.

Visited there back in July. Super interesting to see all the different cars out there.

That's cool. I like some noodles that my uncle makes, can't quite remember what they're called.

I'm not sure why people rag on the Hilux. It is a little bland compared to the Tacoma but it certainly is a capable truck. I have some friends who own one in Abaco and it's a great truck.

Yep! Pretty sure it’s Pancit. That and the egg roll (Lumpia) is the most popular cliché Filipino food.

My uncle also makes some sort of chicken type deal. Very good, usually serves it on top of a rice serving.

I wonder the cost of shipping one of these to the states new... I need to find some friends in the military that live there. Everyone I know that goes to islands like Hawaii or Guam take new vehicles there and sell them for at least $10k more than they paid for them even after driving it for 3 years.

Well US Customs would ruin your day the minute you tried to bring that thing in, so its pretty irrelevant. The 25 year thing is a major bummer because I've been seeing posting for 120 defenders for like 8-15K USD all day out of the UK that always tempt me, but they are all like 5 year old trucks.

    Like, so many.
I worked with some non profits in West Africa and they use Hiluxes. Hot, arid conditions are no problem. They are super solid. They have to be, out in very remote areas with no support and oftentimes barely passable “roads.” The people I worked with loved them, but I didn’t see how they are better than Tacos.

Would you consider getting one and storing it there until it’s old enough to import? Kind of like a long term investment.
