@ColoradoTJ I might have found a Jeep front driveshaft I can snag a double cardan from on the cheap side.

    Rock what ya got.....lol.

At this point, I’m rather interested in how the current one works. If it balances out....

Pick the other up as a spare?

I’ve destroyed a couple rear drive shafts in Moab. Coming out of Rusty Nail in front wheel drive made it sporty. Never taken out a front shaft (challenge excepted).

If it was before Riff Raff, then it was a long day/night. A buddy broke a birf in an 80 on Riff Raff with no spare and it’s still recanted as the night from hell since it started raining in the middle of it too

All this makes me think of the windrock trip last year in May. Stuck on a trail for 24 hrs lol. Least it couldn't have happened with a better crew.

It was on a shelf with a huge undercut, maybe a third of the way. Sad thing I wasn’t the worst off one.

    - My TJ: exploded rear CV joint. Still had ARB and D60. Not horrible. Not great either. The “Moab bump” was a overused term that day.

    - YJ: hard end over roll. Bent hummer bead lock leaking air, link damage (welded on site). Pretty good to go after that. Body and tub trashed.

    - YJ: A D44 with a broken rear pinion. Sheared off right at the housing. He be screwed. Really didn’t know this guy all that well.

-XJ: nobody knew this asshat, but wanted to tag along. This dumbass dropped his rear shaft 3 times. After the first time, we repaired his joint and told him to take it easy. Second time dropped shaft, we were more discriptive on what “easy” meant. Repaired again with the groups spare parts since he didn’t have any. Sure as shit stinks, as we were winching him up, he nails the skinny pedal and drops it again. This time he had significant driveshaft damage, and no joints. He was not going anywhere.

    -Ford Ranger (built).
    Good to go.

This is the day I learned a valuable lesson. Know who your wheeling with on certain trails.

Most of us made it back to the tow rigs by 8pm. XJ and YJ with rear axle exploded did not.

That was the last time I ran a CV rear shaft as well.

Sounds very shitty for some of them for sure.

I’m excited to see what the xj can do.

    S. TN and N. Alabama there are quite a few parks not too far from each other in the area with some pretty challenging trails. We don't have the places like ya'll do to wheel. It's pretty much parks or overlanding stuff.

Do it. We can always meet in the middle. Tennessee and Alabama have some really fun parks.

Rusty Nail is no joke for sure. We took 5 rigs through fine last year but it’s a tight knit group that’s been wheeling together for years. Makes all the difference in the world.

Flat Nasty in MO and Harlan KY are my two favorite parks out here. I’ve heard Superlift and AOP are great too. I like windrock, but it’s so big that you need a plan going in.

We are doing a weeklong trip next year hitting Harlan, Windrock and AOP Ultimate Adventure style
