Christmas bed lights 2018

ANYONE ELSE PLANNING ON DOING IT THIS HOLIDAY?!

 

I run them on the city streets and in the backcountry. Utah Highway Patrol was NOT down with it on the freeway though...at least the trooper I ran into.

HOLY FUCK BALLS!! How I never thought of this and I have a darn plug in my bed. Doing it tonight, my kiddo will love it!

 

In many states this is illegal. Just make sure you look it up first.

 

AGREED! Luckily with the button, you can turn them on and off from the drivers seat.

So I used two 4 1/2 PVC one inch plastic pipes, drilled 4 holes on the ends near the bed rack pieces and zip tied them to the bed rack and then just wrapped the lights around the the pipes in the truck.

This year I have a bed cover with cleats so it will be a little easier.... I hope

I asked the state trooper on the radio if I could put a lit tree in the back, they said I probably shouldn't... Doing it anyways.

 

Did it last year, and got pulled over.. The cop was nice about it, just told me it was against the law as it was a "distraction" for other drivers.

 

As you can see from my avatar I did the Christmas tree in the bed one year. I didn't dare drive with it on, less the Grinches (cops) had ideas of pulling me over. So for the most part people just thought I was driving around with a tree standing up in the bed. BUT, the ladies at the office loved it as I drove into the parking lot. (getting a tree to stand up while driving at freeway speed is a bit of work. It fell over multiple times before I got it sorted out.) If you drive with the lights on I'm sure you'll get a ton of thumbs up.

 

What about one of those life size dancing Santa's? Imagine how many kids would love that. I guess the cops still wouldn't like that very much though.

ROFL I was just thinking about Xmas lights plugged into the 120V outlet, then this thread caught my eye.

Then you guys mention the Xmas tree , Great idea, but me being a little bit twisted, have to add onto that, I'm gonna go track down some stuffed cat toys... Tie their front paws onto the branches of the tree so when I'm driving down the street it looks like the cats were attacking the tree and are now hangin on for dear life.

So long as I can get the time, I am so doing this! If I get pulled over, the cop and I will have a good laugh.

 

What about this? Just tell the cop you are transporting your ATV.
