In a lot of ways this is probaley a better medium for expressing grief. As men we have a hard time opening up to family and friends over something so traumatic. Nothing compares to the emotional lows that come from losing your Dad.

I wanted to say how much alike your dad and mine seem. Liked by everyone, and he could do anything too. He was the 'old man' in his Army unit in WWII, turned 30 during the war. That generation seemingly COULD do anything. Whatever anyone in the family broke, we turned it over to him, and it would disappear for a day inside his workshop, and then emerge completely fixed. A toy, a bike, a tool, a radio, a car, a jeep, whatever.

    You got that right!
In my mind there wasn’t anything he couldn’t do!
He was always the go to when I got myself in a spot.

Just seen this thread, sorry for your loss. I lost my father when I was really young, 15. I was a typical teenager, rebellious. We fought all the time, and then he passed. I beat myself up for years for my behavior. It took a lot time for me to think he would be proud me, but I do now. Sounds like your dad was a good guy, and I’m sure he is proud of you. Most fathers do the best they can, and we tend to forget they are capable of mistakes just like everyone else. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

    Damm sorry man!
That’s too soon and at too young.
I’m a dad and grandpa and am happy for the time I’ve had with him and will try to carry the torch for my kids/grandkids/great grandchildren as he would had and did.

My father was a WWll vet and saw some nasty things. It took a toll on those guys and change their lives forever. In retrospect this is probably why he didn’t have patience for a brat, which I was.

    Hey everyone,
Again I can’t thank you all enough.
This has been one of the toughest times I can think of for my family.
Mom seems to be ok but is hurt and lonely I know. She cried watching me snowblow at their house. She says it’s like dad was here.
Makes me happy, sad, angry, but most of all sorry that moms alone.
I’d love to sell my house and move there but my kids and grandkids are local. I asked her to move in with us. She’s not willing yet. Dad had a nice place with land toys garge etc.
We are doing ok I’d say it’s still hard as hell but it’s just a little less painful.
    He was a good man.
love you dad I miss you.
    Thank you all!
    Dad this means you also!

You know we are here to listen.
    Have a good day tomorrow.

Sorry bud, it's not going to be the same until a new norm is established. I lost my dad when I was 2..... 46 now. It's difficult to this day to wonder what could have been. You'll do ok, just keep your chin up and he wont leave your side.

So I’m losing my chit here!
Between taking care of both houses and drives.
We’ve had snow and cold and I’ve been fighting with both snowblowers. Anyway mine I cleaned the carb it had just quit didn’t sputter or pop at all just stopped.
Seemed ok after that I’d done the drive twice.
Late getting home the other day after doing moms drive I noticed mine looked odd.
    It had been plowed kinda.
Some ass started plowing my driveway realized it was the wrong one and left.
And left a pile in the turn around and a curl down the center.
Dammit now I gotta get it before it freezes. Half way thru blower quits and I grab a shovel.
Today it warmed up some 20degrees feels like 14 lol so I rip my blower apart to drain it and clean the tank and carb and make sure lines are clear.
    Tank was bone dry!
    What an idiot!
So if it don’t run maybe it just needs gas!
