It’s been quiet in here. Thought I’d post up, passed my test and got my 107 a week ago. :plane:

Reading sectionals and weather reports are the hardest parts. Everything else isn’t that bad.

I think that is going away soon, or being more clearly defined (restricted). The new FAA provision was signed last week.

Of course. All $ driven. Not that I'll abide by it. It's a conflict of interest. The FAA had no ruling over model aircraft. But they can also define what model aircraft are down to something that weighs as much as a tv remote. It's a bit rediculous.

Congress changed their minds in the new FAA authorization.

I use Final Cut Pro. I also have a cracked Adobe Premiere Pro or whatever they call theirs. Adobe is “better” but a lot less user friendly. FCP is great though and I love it.

I’m going to disagree with almost all of this. Some drones weigh significantly more than a TV remote and can impart substantial damage to an airframe. Everyone should abide by it, if not for your safety, but out of respect for safety of others. If I ever see somebody out flying around not following the law, you bet I’m going to call in a complaint on them. All it takes is one idiot that thinks the rules don’t apply to them to ruin it for the rest of us that respect the law and fly safely. I hope you either get smart and get legit, or get slapped so hard with a fine that you’ll reconsider.

The key factor is hobby. There is a big difference between what is a payload carrying multirotor vs a sport / racing multirotor.

Furthermore let's get real about the licensing. IveI seens an 6s freestyle quad in the hands of a commercial drone pilot and the 20 seconds was laughable.

There's no issue setting regulations and holding people accountable. But to mandate training and fees for hobbiest in non payload carrying multirotor is the line for me.

Above that I agree completely with your concerns.

+1 that regulation is silly. Especially if you are just flying for hobby at a park and not flying higher than the light poles.

    Flying is common sense.

Anyone looking to get one they are fun and the pictures/videos look great.

Here's the thing - stupid people and the 'reason why we can't have nice things' is in full effect. People dropping their drones into yellowstone geysers? Can't do shots at National Parks. Stupid geofencing that's overly restrictive. Etc.

I mean, do what you want. But don't cry to me if the FAA fines you because of reactive rules to idiots doing idiotic things.

107 license isn't about pilot skills, it's about understanding the airspace you operate in. So of course a stunt quad is going to throw someone for a loop.
