Yeah South Carolina requires the pistol to be in a latched compartment such as glove box or console (I prefer the console). I just take it in the house at night.

I've been looking for something like this. Has anyone considered getting clever with it and incorporating it into their vehicle alarm, so it unlocks automatically when i get in the car? I was thinking of buying a door lock actuator. Has anyone thought of this? Any ideas?

I know this is a little old, but what did you use to attach the holster to the wall of the console? I just ordered some sheets of kydex to do this myself, one .06 and another .08 because I wasnt sure what would work best.

Just 3M double sided tape. It came off once on a really hot day in El Paso, but I hadn't prepped it very well. I reapplied with fresh tape and wiped everything down with denatured alcohol and it's been fine, but it's now winter. If it comes off again I'll look into screws or epoxy. Take pics and let us know how it goes for you.

I tell ya that little gap right under the steering wheel in between the dash and the lever to change the steering wheels position is a great handy dandy spot to keep your weapon nice and concealed and easy access!

Can you post the exact statute? I am trying to find it and have read thru 790 but don't see where that is stated.

    Thanks,
    Jimmy

Look at section 5 for private conveyance.
Also look at 790.001 definitions, look at the definition for Securely encased and readily accessible for immediate use.

I hope it helps, I’m not the best at reading “lawyer”.

    I read :

    (5) POSSESSION IN PRIVATE CONVEYANCE.—Notwithstanding subsection (2), it is lawful and is not a violation of s. 790.01 for a person 18 years of age or older to possess a concealed firearm or other weapon for self-defense or other lawful purpose within the interior of a private conveyance, without a license, if the firearm or other weapon is securely encased or is otherwise not readily accessible for immediate use.

and the way I thought I understood that is "without a license" so I am not sure if it applies to someone with a concealed permit. I wish they would just made these statutes easy to understand.
