I posted a thread somewhere before. But here's a post of my almost complete rack. I had a fence welder build me one . Seen him at work with a rack on his truck and thought it would look like a good roof rack. He quoted me 600. The. When he showed up with it. He said another 150 to powder coat. I was like wtf. 600 was just raw? But I'm super happy so far with the way it looks. Thought it would be easy to do but he's been back 5 times now just to measure and fit. And measure. Then more welding. Then powder coat. Should get final mount soon.

Just got it mounted today. A few imperfections. But I'm loving the look. It's loud as hell though. 2 inch square tube. My car even vibrates when I hit 55. Have to figure out a fix. Maybe a light bar will help. Or some spikes at the front to brake the wind.

Cool thanks for the link. Let me see if I can find one that'll clamp around 2 inch square vs round.

It's actually pretty light. I thought it would be 100lbs. He got it up himself. Me and a coworker previously threw it up and it was a breeze can't imagine it being more than 50-60lbs

That must be some thin gauge material. I would have thought a lot heavier than that.

Well maybe it's heavier. It's pretty thick. Industrial fence . Let me ask. Maybe I am underestimating the weight since there's 2 of us holding it .

This looks like it would work nice. But I don't want to guess and hope. I'm going to see if the tin knockers can cut me up a piece that I can mount and just paint. If not I might buy a piece of black acrylic and cut one myself.

Curious why an OEM or Prinsu type rack wouldn't have worked here. What are you planning on putting up there?

Anyways, let us know how the powder coating goes and what the resolution is for the speed wobbles and noise when you get a wind fairing set up for it.

Thule fairing arriving today. I'm sure it'll help . I had an oem rack. Just wanted a beefier look. All other options were 1000+. Wasn't looking to spend that much. I hope to one day get a roof rack tent but that'll probably never happen . Who knows. I may need the real estate for a zombie apocalypse. Probably end up getting a ladder and putting 4 beach chairs up their to watch Disney firework with the family .

After ordering a few different sizes. I stuck with the 3rd size fairing. Noise and vibration is completely gone. I didn't think it would completely go away. My brother just got a new Tacoma and is already asking me to have this guy make him one. I don't know what powder coating should look like but he probably jipped me and painted it with a spray gun. Doesn't look 100 percent professional. Still overall very satisfied with the noise and vibration gone.

That's dirt cheap and damn near 100 percent of the time painting is up to the customer.

What's up bro. My brother wanted a 40x66. Can't it handle a roof top tent for 4? Also he will be mounting it to the camper. I still haven't had time to bust out and mount that bullpup yet.

He said he was going to powdercoat it and rattlecanned it instead?

Uhm, excuse me but that's bullshit and if I were you I'd be pissed.

Based on the quality of of those welds I can see and being lied to over the coating, unless you hate your brother I don't know why you'd recommend this "fabricator" to him.
