    Oooohhhhhhh my bad.
I would try out the Tacoma t slot nuts. I’m not exactly sure about the size details. The bolts I used were 1/4.
    Found this link on Amazon.
    Hope this helps

I did something similar based off this general idea.

2x - 1/2" x 4" stainless steel carriage bolts into the front bedrail (I had to grind down the round bolt head slightly to make them slide into the rails properly)
4x - 1/2" Stainless Fender Washers (2 flush on the rails and 2 flush on the outside of the MAXSA boards
2x - Stainless Nyloc 1/2" nuts to lock the bolts into the bedrail
2x - Stainless 1/2" Wing nuts on the outside of the boards ( I was gonna grab some knobs but they seemed impossible to source for 1/2" bolts and wing nuts are cheaper and do the job just fine)
Simple combo 2' Bike cable lock for security.

    Total mounting cost: ~$25

    Win!

Isn't 1/2 inch a wee bit overkill? Wow! I went to the web page rmthat had the knobs I got and, yeah...no 1/2 inch! I am sure they exist somewhere.

If I had to do it over again, I might have gone with the rail nuts people get.

    Thanks!

I actually originally just had the boards strapped to the side of my bedrack with locking tie downs from Yakima (https://www.yakima.com/ripcord) that I already had for hauling motos and locking them up. However I just didn't like how they hung with only straps holding them up. I also thought it was overkill to have 2 locking straps protecting boards that are essentially the same price as the straps! I then decided to set my budget as low as possible while still getting the mounting and security appropriate for the recovery boards and a clean look to the truck. If you have 4 maxtrax then I get the justification of the expense to spend $100 + on mounting options. But for 2 budget boards I decided on a budget friendly approach to the mounting.

For the amount of weight that's being held, 1/2" are absolutely overkill! However I went with 1/2" for 2 reasons: the carriage bolt heads on 1/2" fit perfectly in the bedrails (after a touch of grinding to flatten out 2 edges). And they fit the holes of the MAXSA boards the best as to help eliminate any rattling or movement as they hang here.

My original plan and what I've seen a lot of people use are the 3/8" bolts and t-nuts like you posted. You can also find various knobs for 3/8" as well so it's a good option if you want nice knobs to spin on/off. For me I wanted to grab something I could find at the local hardware store for under $30 complete. Knobs and the T-nuts plus any shipping get a little bit over that budget.

Found some old Thule ski rack mounts in the garage. Bought some 1/4x20 x 4" stainless bolts and knobs, under $20. Persuaded them to fit. Now to move my bars and put on. Pics on truck after mounting, but it's too cold tonight.

Oh snap..I think I have the same thule mounts in my garage. I bought knobs at homedepot but they didn't fit. I'm gonna have to see if I can use them.

You have to get new bolts and force them in. The Thule ones use a finer thread and smaller square on the carriage bolt so you have to buy their stuff. I'm never going to use them for their original purpose (ski mounts I now have bolted to boards in the bed) so I didn't care. Or I can just use more easily accessible bolts if I do re-use them.
But aren't you running that ''prinsu' instead of thule?
