Were you able to retain the factory USB connections?

What adapter did you use to retain factory aux port?

Assuming you're using the T02 harness to connect to a Maestro RR to retain other factory features, the T02 harness has three "aux input" RCA connections (L, R and composite video), and on the Pioneer HU wiring harness (and presumably other HU harnesses), there is a female 3.5mm jack for aux input. That leaves something like this to complete the connection, which is what I used (ignore the composite video connection from the T02; the factory plug doesn't support it).

This is needed to convert the factory plug behind the dash back to USB male (Type A).
This is needed to retain use of the factory AM/FM antenna.
This is needed to retain use of either/both of the factory GPS and XM radio satellite antennas.

Awesome. Thank you. I did use the adapters for the USB and GPS, but I forgot the AUX. I have one of those RCA to 3.5mm adapters, so I just need to pull the HU for a few minutes and plug it in! Not that I ever use the AUX port, but I do like to know that it will work if I ever want to use it!

Thanks for posting. Does the behind steering center display retain all functionality including music display etc?

Also I did the anytime hoangde mod and have a switch to switch between (new ) front and ( existing ) rear camera to override the backup camera - - do you know if that will still work with the pioneer? I like having the switch vs having to go through a touchscreen.

Yes the instrument cluster display still works. When connected to wireless CarPlay it shows “WiFi” as the source and the artist/album/track just like everything else.

I have no idea about your camera switch mod.

Thanks, I was assuming it was similar to the anytime camera referred to earlier. Mine is a popular solution here on the forum. No worries. Overall this looks like the first great upgrade for the taco.

Just ordered it today with the items recommended by Crutchfield.

If you get the to2 harness as specified by Crutchfield and idatalink do you still need that 28 pin harness to avoid splicing into the factory harness?

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01K02TMKQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Does the to2 harness plug into the factory wires with no issues?

7466F035-45A4-4294-A7AA-A1E5EB8FFD70.jpgInstalled today, it was pretty painless and relatively quick and no splicing required. The hardest part was getting the wires and contraptions pushed behind the unit. ( I have Sirius as well as the maestro ). I think it looks much better than the entune Jbl And it’s really cool to have wireless CarPlay.

Everything works except the phone buttons and the nav/compass in the multi info display ( I guess pioneer doesn’t provide this ). The phone buttons are a Bummer - anyone got them working?

Phone buttons work for me. I have a 2018 with JBL. Installed the AVIC-W8400NEX with Sirius.

I was pleased with the install. I was able to attach the Sirius module with industrial velcro agains the back, below the radio.
I attached the Maestro with large zip ties against the left brace which allowed me to get the bulk of the wires in pretty easy.
To get the faceplate to sit flush, I used 3 washers on the bottom right, 1 on the top right and 2 on the bottom left when bolting in the bracket.
I also ran a usb cable from the maestro, through a hole I drilled towards the back of the glovebox so I can flash the unit when needed.
I did not install the aux. I can't for the life of me figure out what I would ever use it for. I couldn't test it if I had hooked it up. Would love to hear use cases...
I opted to replace the 12v adapter with HDMI/USB.

One thing that was not clear, because this was a JBL replacement, I only needed to plugin the front rca outputs to the Maestro rca inputs. The rears happen via the amp.
Also, the blue wire from the AM/FM antenna adapter goes into the blue/white wire on the Maestro. I assume it is for the HD Radio since HD did not work when I didn't have it attached.

I really like the fitment and ease of install. I have nightmares from installs in earlier Toyota's which is why I got the JBL upgrade. However, Carplay is a game changer for me and after reading a couple threads, it looked like a very easy replacement, which it was. Stoked!

Thanks to everyone who has posted about this radio and install! Made it easy.

That’s good to know, although I have exactly what you have and the info showed the buttons as hook off/on. Wonder why mine isn’t working.

I also Velcro’d my Sirius receiver to the top to free up some room.

What firmware is your pioneer? I left it on 1.0.0 after reading others were having problems with 1.0.1 and Maestro.

I didn’t update the firmware, but that’s interesting and thanks for checking — where did you notice that people had problems?

I think I know my issue from reading earlier on this thread. I never saw a pioneer specific install sheet for the maestro that you guys seem to have. The only connection guide I have just shows the data cable and a few others so I never plugged in the blue “remote” connector. I’ll try that and hopefully that fixes it

Tried that and it still doesn’t work. Confirmed that I have 1.00 firmware.

Also in the diagnostic settings for the maestro module steering controls inside the pioneer it looks like the phone button press is getting recognized but it’s not doing anything.

Are you guys seeing the phone contact menu pop up? Wonder if I’ve to reflash my maestro even though I know I picked the default phone settings.

Have you tried answering a phone call? My contact menu does not pop up when I press it. However, when I get a phone call, I can pick up and hang up with the button.

Ahh thanks. I haven’t tried that. Will do so. I think that may one entune feature the pioneer is lacking and I was just expecting it to work.

Anyone have problems with radio station signal reception after installing the Pioneer HU? My reception is probably 30-40% of what it was with the Entune HU. I connected the Satellite GPS. I left what I think is the Sirrus XM cable unplugged. I connected what I believe is the antenna to the wiring harness adapter but I left the blue wire disconnected since there was nothing to wire it to. The only wire from the truck not connected is seen in the attached picture.

I didn’t order the Metra 40-LX11 because I can’t see where this would connect to any of the existing wires in my truck.

    Thanks!

So what antenna adapter did you buy or use if you didn’t use the Metra?
