+1 for Monache, Kennedy Meadows, and Anza Borrego (Sheep Canyon to the north, Fish Creek the south).
I like to use Crab Flats Campground or Ironwood Group Campground for weekend wheeling around Big Bear.

Here's a few of my go to places:
Green Valley Lake campground IMG_0096.jpgCrab Flats campground IMG_2079.jpgThis is off season, technically closed. No water is available, but the bathroom is usually open.
And then there's all the 'Yellow Post' sites scattered all around the SBNF. IMG_2131.jpgAll of these places are within an easy 1.5 to 2 hour drive from my door. All pet friendly.

Does anyone have recommendations for trailer camping spots in SoCal? We’re picking up an 18-foot hybrid this weekend and want a quick weekend getaway to try it out. I’m impartial to hooking up or dry camping for this first run

Fish and Blair seemed even closer to civilization, so I wasn't considering it, are they nice?

I have gone through all the pages and added all recommended sites to a Google map as a lunch project. I started to make a list for my self but I thought this might be easier to share. I deemed 3-4 hours the limit on drive time for weekend trips which I have labeled "Short Trips". Anything further than that I consider an "Extended Trip". I'm sure things will warrant being added in the future. Let me know if I need to make other changes.

Hope it works out for everyone.

Yes, but probably full this time of year until the wildflowers dry up.
