I have noticed the reduction in a/c performance at a stop but only when the truck is heatsoaked and pulling the cabin temp down. Thats a normal trait of a vehicle a/c system. Especially one without electric fans such as that on a small car that can pull more air at idle.

Stick a real good digital quick read thermometer in the vents and document it on paper so if you decide to take it in, you will have some legitimate data to show them.
This way they won't blow you off as easily

I would have it looked at. I have an 18 with dual climate and it is cold at idle (unless heat soaked after initial startup).

    **Update**

So after obsessing over how the temperature of the air coming out of my vents “felt”, I began using my digital thermometer to measure the temperature at my vents. Today was a good test. The outside temp, according the the readout on the dash, was 108°. After driving for about 15 minutes and letting the interior cool down, I measured the temp at my center vent and it read 34° and felt ice cold. I was presently surprised that it was so cold. After coming to a stop for a few moments, the temp read 48°. Which is actually still quite cold but I realized that because the temp changed by 14 degrees, I was thinking the system was performing sub-par because it went from ice cold to just cold (if that makes sense) But considering that it was still blowing 70° colder then the outside temp, I’m less concerned. As soon as I started moving, the temp coming from the vent went back down into the 30’s. I also realized that it was so cold that it hurt to hold my hand in front of the vent for longer then 20 to 30 seconds.

While driving, I continued to measure the temp and found that it fluctuated from low 40’s to low 30’s. I suspect the change is from the compressor going through a cycle so it doesn’t freeze the system.

After seeing the numbers, I believe the Tacoma is working as designed. I’ve only had her for two month and I’m still learning how she feels. :)

What it's missing is an auxiliary fan to blow air over the condenser when at a stop.

Bulletin released on 7-19-2018 to address issue. Additional condenser fan would be added and integrated into HVAC control. Similar to the one that was released for the 2nd gen. Attached PDF of bulletin

I would be thrilled if I had that ac performance. Lowest i can get is 44* and at idle it can go up to 70*

70° at idle!?? Damn, sounds like it’s time for an ac tuneup!

This. It's really a physics problem. Less air flowing over the condenser = less ability to remove heat.

If that's the case, might have it looked at again. Possible one of the lines wasn't tightened properly and you lost freon.

Unknown lift, maybe 2" I don't know how to ID it, and would rather set it back to stock.
The file size is 5.1MB, but when I open it, I only get page 1 of 63 pages. I'd like to read thru the rest of the bulletin--am I not opening this right, or is everyone else getting the same thing?

Hmmm. Maybe I can search via the TSB number and come up with the full bulletin.

    Nope.....no luck.

Old thread, but I am getting my repair done today 12/6/18 for this TSB. It took them four months to get the parts and to get the repair. I will take pics of what the fix is.

Every time I stopped, the A/C would just turn off. Not good in Texas. I understand that the A/C cycles, but the it was useless in any traffic situations. Nice of them to fix my A/C in December
