You can buy used, as I did, but I would buy new as the windows were damaged by quite a bit of mold that became evident during high humidity. Cleaning helped but not enough.

Yes you can still use the tie downs in the track. Not sure on the MPGs

I bought my soft topper used. The only thing I did was replace the weatherstripping under the rails for like 8 bucks and it's been great. I've dropped the soft top several times hauling bigger stuff that wouldn't fit under a hardshell topper and I have no weight penalty. My only complaint is no side windows and the plastic is hard to see through. Nevertheless, I'd still have a soft topper over a hard top.

What I also like about Softopper is they sell replacement panels for front and rear in mesh, clear, smoked tint, and no window canvas material. When I bought mine used it also came with scuffed up clear panels. It also looks like you are looking through a fish bowl with both panels in. Last summer after I bought it I just removed the panel between the cab and the bed and it was fine, I put it back in for the winter.

Next summer I will probably purchase mesh for front and back and a smoked tint for the back for when I want it covered.
