So....This ain't happenin.... Today is "Children's Christmas Party" here at work. 330 people booked for lunch and Santa.

Problem.....Santa has a hangover....One of our bartenders WAS scheduled to be Santa. He was plowed when he left last night, and just called in sick/hung over. They actually wanted ME to be Santa. No way I'm dealing with 75 spoiled rotten, entitled little rich brats. Boss just offered to bribe me.....Thinks $50 will influence my decision. (Add at least one more zero)

They probably don't want mean, grumpy Santa....Ba Humbug.

Now if they need someone to be the Grinch, give me a call...

It was the drive from their old quarters to the kitchen that was taking too long. And they were putting too many miles on the Bentley.

Good morning. 5° damn thermometer can't seem to get off that number for at least 3 days now. At least it is above zero and not below. Supposed to finally move today and get up to 26° for the next 3 days in a row. :pccoffee: Maybe then I will find my motivation to shovel more snow. Or not.

South Dakota is seldom mentioned as a retirement place but it is starting to be. Friend of mine that is a CDR and his wife, also a CDR when they retired 20 years ago traveled the country for 2 years in a RV. They landed in Spearfish, SD. The Black Hills of SD is fairly mild in the winter with no State income tax. It is pretty high up on the list of those sites that rank places to retire. Montana is #13 and SD is #3. Those stats are pretty much consistent at most sites.

One of those lists Best and Worst places to retire list Mn. as #11. They use 3 criteria Affordability, Quality of Life and Health Care. Mn. comes in #1 for both Quality of Life and Health Care. But only 42 out of 50 for affordability. And that is even with adding double weight for the brutal winters here. When I was 50 cold and snow didn't bother me I would shoot at 20 below zero. ~55 started thinking damn this isn't so great anymore. At 60 if it isn't at least 20 above and no wind think fuck that stupid shit. Cold and snow get old when you get old. And it hurts the body more.

Each one of those stats, for the most part, depend on WHERE you live in each State and that is seldom mentioned. Love the North Shore of Lake Superior

But it is a long 2 hour ambulance drive to the nearest hospital from that spot 4 or more hours from other locations. Never used to think about things like that only a few years ago...

It was 25 years ago when Asheville got slammed with a foot and a half record snow. Although that was in March. Be safe Tim but have fun.

Still somewhat tempted to move to back Western NC when I retire.

For years I had in my head that when I retire, I wanted to end up in the Northern Tier of Pa. (you know where), but for those reasons alone, esp.,finding a specialist, that idea got penciled out.

It’s the climate that the wife and I can’t agree on. She grew up in north western PA and says she’s seen enough snow to last a lifetime. Me, I hail from the east side of VA along the bay, not too much snow there. She likes the convenience of being close to town and I like the quiet isolation of the country side (besides, Amazon and Midway USA delivers everywhere).
Here in TX to the south we both like the Hill/Wine Country. Great area to avoid the cold and snow. Another interesting place looks to be Mesquite, NV. Developments aimed at the retirement minded (especially if you’re a golfer). But head an hour or so to the west and you’re in Vegas, Head east and you’re in the national parks of Utah. Or go north and you’re in some pretty open areas known for good hunting. My pick for all 4 seasons is the Star Valley of WY.

Hey, if i can muster up enough paticene to be an elf and haul a couple hundred kids up onto santa's lap two years in a row then you can put on the big, smelly red suit and ho ho ho yourself hoarse for a few rich brats.
