Last load of white pine going to my brother for his fire pit. Pushed this load a little (or maybe a lot) too far but it was the day before snow.

I've run with an over stacked bed of green hickory. You're probably okay.

Tis the season... Lots of firewood hauling!

I like to have mine delivered. Half a cord lasts me a season and is much less hassle for me. Kudos to those who chop their own.

I have a 30ton hydro in the garage, this is all green so I'm not in a rush to split it so long as it gets done before spring.

Half a cord? My first year in this house but I'm looking to burn between 4 and 8 cord depending on how cold it gets.

Haha, I can't imagine where I would store 4 cords of wood. I have a small condo till I'm done with school. Besides, I usually only burn in evenings unless it's really cold and I'll burn during the day.

I split my green as soon as I can -gets it drying out all that much sooner. I have the time - I am retired, so I can understand the "RTI" projects. in other words -when I get round to it!
I also hate to burn anything that is the least bit green --less creosote.

That is kind of what I was thinking. When I was growing up we usually had to get at least 4 cords, but our house was tiny and wood heat only. Now I just get natural gas pumped in.

When I was young I used to hate going our downing trees, cutting and splitting, now I miss it because it was actually a somewhat decent bonding time with my Dad and brother.

I use 3 cords a year plus 2 tons of pellets. I split it all by hand because it seems faster to me. Maybe a splitter would be faster but it never seemed like it was worth the expense. Cutting, hauling and stacking always takes more time than splitting.

For any of you that are wondering, this is a face cord. Roughly 1/3 of a full cord. If I added a higher bed rack a half cord would fit easy.
