Phoenix homeowner shot in home invasion

A man living with a woman and two children was shot inside his Phoenix home[IMG] Friday morning after a person broke into the house through the second-story window, Phoenix police said.
The shooting happened near Thomas Road and 91st Avenue at about 3 a.m.

The people inside the house - a man in his early 20s, a woman, a 4-year-old and a 10-month-old - were awoken at the time of the break-in, Sgt. Tommy Thompson[IMG] of Phoenix police said. It is still unclear if there was more than one person who broke in, and how exactly they were able to come in through the upper window.
"At some point, shots were fired," Thompson said. Investigators are trying to determine if the incident was a shootout between the man and the home invader, and who was holding a weapon.
The man was hit twice - once in the hand and once in the shoulder, Thompson said. He was taken to a hospital with what could be life-threatening injuries.
Police are now in the process of trying to figure out why the house was targeted for a home invasion, Thompson said.
Police have no suspect descriptions at this time nor do they know if any possessions were taken.

The perp entered a "second story window". Hmm? That sounds kinda weird. Anyone entering my second story windows will need a big ass ladder. Anyway, here in St. Louis, Mo that would be a free shoot. Hopefully they will put some locks/alarms on those second story windows.

These are a little more maneuverable in tight situations. Strategically placed they are a great deterrent to unlawful entry.

You can use the buffer tube as a stock. I have a green laser on one and a C-More on the other. Great fun!

We've had a few home invasions here in Vegas as well... most often with more than one assailant. While the greater percentage appear to be targeted, as in gang or drug related, there have been a few completely random.
In my mind, there is no hope or saving someone who breaks into my home. Even my pups are worth more than that person's life.

i'm going to install a beefed up Exterior door on my bedroom. complete with deadbolt lock. i just need a few seconds to get armed up..and set up a defensive position. shotgun and sig..oh, call cops. fool tries to come thru that door, and it will qualify for a california sanctioned shooting.

Those things will get the job done as well. I might envy you just a little bit.
