Yeah the plan was to go with a Truxedo. About $328 on the tonneau website. They seem reliable and have a 5yr warranty, and also seems more strudy than the Tonneua Ionic lo pro cover

Can you still use your bed cleats on the side runners with the truxedo or any of these soft tops?

I have the factory hard trifold and it does leak no matter how I close the gate. It leaks at the other end by the cab. The screw also loosens itself all the time. Its a PIA to remove it and install it alone so I want a soft cover as well..

You can with the North Mountain cover. I put the cleats where I normally keep them and adjusted the hold down clamps accordingly.

    U must be. I looked at over 60 2016/2017
tacomas last november. It rained the night before. First used '16 I looked at we almost bought was in oshkosh wi. Luckily I looked behind the rear seat and saw a puddle in cargo area. Rear brake light leak. So after that I was looking at them more carefully. Every single one of the Tacomas on the lots of Oshkosh toyota, West Bend, WI, Appleton WI and Green Bay WI had leaky OEM toyota tri fold tonneau. West Bend WI toyota had a nice used '16 tacoma but previous owner left that dealership after tire rotation and had rear tire come off on the highway. The rear drum skidded on the highway and looked like poop. They claimed it functioned well. But was a red flag. Next used '16 was in green bay. After the leaky cab in Oshkosh I asked to go thru the car wash. Sure as shizzle it leaked even worse. Ended up with a new '17 w/end of year pricing. It went thru 2 car washes b4 buying. It has gone thru 8 or so since. The Tijuana robot must have squeezed just right on this '17? Or maybe better gasket?

I’m lucky too. Mine doesn’t let a drop of water in and I live in Washington.

Seriously! I must also be another one of the lucky ones. I know my mx4 bakflip isn’t water proof but it doesn’t leak. I didn’t install the water drain hoses either. I wash my truck with a pressure washer and see no leaks inside the bed!

i have an extang 2.0 trifold(soft top) im looking to part with for $50. There are three small holes in the vinyl about the width of a pencil where i caught a snowblower on it during transport. Can be patched and fixed. I had originally patched from the inside with bike tire patch kit. LMK if anyone is interested.
