I am a fan of 5he 3rd gens been thinking about getting one myself. But will have to loose the front bumper. And hesitant about electrical controls. Maybe a 3rd gen with a manual tranny n fj tcase swop?

I've had my 18 for about two weeks now and I already miss the power of my 07. The new one is sluggish and the exhaust is much more noticeable. My 07 was all stock and when I hit the gas, it would push me back into the seat. I've got OV Tune coming in this week to take care of the sluggishness, but that ricer exhaust nags me. Was thinking of getting an MBRP or AFE catback but now I'm not sure if I want to amplify the sound. :/

Noooo!!! don't do that .....IMHO people with noise exhaust are dying for "attention I'm here" , they're so annoying and careless about other people feelings. Making noise at whatever time of the day is just disturbing the peace, some need rest and silence to sleep and the assholes came to awake the neighborhood is just not right!, that show how bad educated they are.

Metal beds suck. Look like crap, dent to shit, are mostly weak, and rust out. Thank you Toyota for the composite bed. Now just make the rest of the truck composite and we’ll be all good.

Well I don't come and go at night and the loudness is really only above 2k or 3k RPM. I mostly want the modest performance gain and that deeper idle.

My first gen was the best deal in vehicles ever. Bought it used for $10,000 put 100,000 more miles on it, and sold it for $6,500. Best $3,500 ever spent. All i had to replace in that 100k was a starter, the shocks, and 4 spark plug wires. Boom!

I regret selling my 1989 4x4 pickup. It was my dads and I took it over when he passed. It was a cool little truck and took me too and from college...

I had an original 1st gen, 95 4wd manual. Sold it back in 2004 with 180k and the beginning of some fender rust. Went on to drive wife's old sedan and then suv to keep her and the kids in something new. Now the kids are a little older and I could finally get another 4wd manual tacoma. My wife says it's a mid life crisis. Either way, always missed the first gen, and now liking the 3rd gen.

Sold my 1st gen Tacoma a few months back. While I do miss the simplicity of it I’m really starting to enjoy my 3rd gen

I had my first gen about two years. It was a great truck, but I don't miss it. I don't get sentimental about stuff, hell I sold my late father's 1991 HiLux that was in the family since new in the late 90's.

I regret it right now as I pack for the desert, if I beat the sh!t out of my old truck, it would take it, it was tough as nails. The truck I have now has to get me to work Monday.

I love the space, back seat, features and looks much better than my first gen. The drivetrain from the 1st gen is what i miss most. The manual locking hubs, manual transfercase and throttle response/low end power of the 1st gen. Just my 2 cents.

I really enjoy both. I've owned gens 1, 2, and 3 and the first and third gens are my favorite.

The compactness and ruggedness always made me want to get a first gen, and I finally did this year. I could never justify spending so much on an older truck but a good deal popped up and I found myself with the keys to a 2004 double cab TRD off road back in October. I really can't wait to build up a first gen

Bought mine new in 1997 and put a supercharger on it 6 months later, now close to 600,000 miles.
I just can’t let mine go, it’s a 2nd vehicle but I’m in the tacoma 90 percent of the time.
    A ton of power
Small easy to get around in on the trails or town.
No truck payments for the last 18 years so I figured I’ve saved 50,000 easily and
    no devaluation.
If I get to one million miles the dealer I bought it from said they would trade it for
    a new Tacoma.
Might might be dead by then
