This is the eternal argument for "Just buy an OR" Sure I could buy an OR but if I like all of the Pro stuff why not buy a Pro?

What if I want all the Pro stuff but don't want to bake my brand new headlights in an oven and take them apart to get them black, then seal them back up ALMOST as good as factory... then deal with foggy headlight a month down the road... and I want TRD leather but don't want to strip my old seats and recover them in new leather and want a TRD skid plate (Can't think of a reason I would but what if I do) and want better suspension but don't want to rip out all my suspension to put it in and want it all to be covered under the factory warranty...

I am sure you see my point. YES we all know you can make a Faux Pro for about the same money maybe a touch less and maybe even better than a pro but what if I don't want all that hassle? I don't want all that time to install and paint and recover.... What if I just want to drive it off the lot swap out the tires and be DONE?? Should I still buy an OR ?? Nope I should buy a Pro cause that is what I want...

If I planned modifying a Tacoma I would spend the extra money on a pro just to remove the main selling point of the vehicle of the vehicle which is a factory 1” lift. At the end of the day it’s his money. He asked our opinion I gave mine.

I agree to a point.. If I wanted to mod the suspension and planned on buying a black or white truck, I would probably buy an Offroad. Now If I had my heart set on the Voodoo Blue color, but planned on modding the suspension, I would buy a pro and mod the suspension and not look back... Like I have said in every one of these threads... It is 100% what YOU WANT...

Not yet, can't find one in MT. I had one on order, down payment and all (back in October) but they (Toyota) apparently are not taking orders anymore for MT TRD Pros, and my order got cancelled and they refunded my deposit (back in early November)

Lifted on 33’s, TRD Pro wheels, skid plate and grill. Front camera mod.
This is my first post and I really agree that it’s personal choice in the end.
I recently upgraded to a 2017 TRD OR model lift/leveled with PRO wheels and 285/75-16 BFG all terrains. It drives great great both on and off road and will go anywhere the PRO will go.
For the difference in money I have to vote for the OR.

My reasoning for not starting with the Pro is that the biggest selling point for the Pro is the Fox suspension, which you will be ditching if you decide to lift it down the road.

I love the look of the Pro, but I don’t feel like what it offers is worth ~10k over the OR.

UGHHH.....aside from the tech packages of the Pro.......If in the future we wanted to put on "accessories"...front bumper/integrated winch.....from what I can gather there are only minor differences?

If someone can show my wife and I how to get the OR vs the Pro and get the similar tech (she want's it....I couldnt care less) I would appreciate it!

Thanks Jeff for the call! You helped out a TON!

OR package with premium tech has leather seats jbl and you can even order it with a moon roof. OR and Pro both come with crawl control already. Pros come with a fox suspension which has a 1” lift(which is the major selling point besides the exclusive color that will be available next year on the TRD line anyway if trend continues). They both have different grilles, headlights, tail lights, and Pro has those god awful wheels. They both come from the factory with shitty tires.

    Comparison (apples to apples)

TRD Offroad (DCSB, Black, Auto Trans)
    Added Connectivity Package
Added TRD Cat Back (Pro has this)
Added LED Projector fogs (Pro has LED Rigids)
Added Premium Package (Pro has Leather/sunroof/JBL)
    upload_2018-12-10_21-44-36.jpg

    TRD Pro
    Added Connectivity Package
    TRD Exhaust STANDARD
    Rigid LED Fogs STANDARD
    Premium Leather/sunroof/JBL STANDARD
    upload_2018-12-10_21-47-37.jpg

    Difference in price...
    $3,902

Things pro has but OR does not:

    FOX Suspension
    TRD Pro Grill
    TRD Pro Wheels
    TRD Pro Black Headlights
    TRD Pro Tail lights

Yes most of the differences are cosmetic but they are also things many people prefer... If you add in the Fox suspension (Plus installation) and all the cosmetic stuff (Plus installation) the price difference is nominal AND the pro comes with everything under factory warranty.

So I am not sure where the $10,000 difference claim comes in, but this above is hard documented fact.

Depending on where you live dealers are doing “market adjustments” and ask a lot more then MSRP. People have posted window stickers from dealerships asking 52k for a pro

    Hmmm....awesome post SCJeffro!

Looks like the pro may be something we need to consider! Especially if we are "sold' on a color that isn't optioned!

    Appreciate your candid response!

    ^ What he said.

Also, MSRP does not take into account how much dealers are willing to negotiate. They are much more willing to work for a sale on an OR than a Pro.

Again well said...I think we need to search some less "popular" areas around the country for one of these!

    Suggestions?

Maybe, but it varies and depends on your negotiation skills... I watched a guy walk into a dealership and pay full asking (2nd Sticker) price for a Dealer modded 2019 OR the other day. Wrote them a check.. $48,898 before taxes and tag...

The Pro right next to it had a 2nd Sticker of $46,698...

(The OR guy got some 20" American Racing rims and General Grabbers and a Rough Country spacer lift though so "Break even") haha or not....
