I thought the roof rack was for the cab not the tent. :(

depending on the size of the extrusion, yes. I have the thule aero bars (extruded aluminum) on my cab right now. the extrusion in those pictures looks a lot bigger though. my cargo box has "fingers" that open and close like a fist. looking at those screen shots, the extrusion is too thick for them to grab.

edit: obviously this is subject to change if/when we get dimensions of it.. I'm just saying it looks thick..

my guess is they're designing a camper rack that will match the roof rack. that small of a cab rack makes sense for extrusion because all you can fit on it is roto pax cans/ max trax/ etc.. nothing long like kayaks, cargo boxes, etc. and to make it all look the same and give the same mounting options, they're making a rack for the camper out of the same extrusion.

From what I understand they are working on both. I think they're going to test them both down in baja over the holiday break.

Working on 27” deck sections, single bars, and a 15” cab over cantilever rack for the campers. Will also do a cab-mounted rack for double cabs. The deck section I’m taking to Baja will only have two bars with a 100-watt solar panel in between and slightly below the top of the bars. And a single bar behind that for surfboards. More photos next week.

Just got back from a week long trip. Portland to Lake Tahoe. Most nights on the way down were below 20F.
Stayed pretty warm with a good sleeping bag and turning on the buddy heater when needed.

Is there a list or place to check for people who may be looking to sell their deposit (place in line). We are on the east coast and we have recently decided to take a 3 week trip to visit family in Portland OR in May, so that would be our only opportunity to pick one up in person.

This thread is probably the best place as any. Depending on site rules, you might need to make a B/S/T post, then link it here?

Not that I’ve ever seen, but starting a new GFC for sale thread isn’t a terrible idea. Heck some people may want to sell their GFC (getting a new vehicle, life-style change etc.)

If my truck gets totaled this winter I’ll let you know. Otherwise I’m taking a road trip out there around the same time.

When I placed my deposit I could have sworn it indicated deposits are fully refundable until they reach out to finalize your build. Am I misremembering?

@speedtre whats your number in line? I might be willing to take your spot and then sell mine if need be.

"When you click that Add-to-Cart button you'll be putting down a deposit to hold your spot in line for a camper. The Standard GFC Platform deposit is a non-refundable $500 that will be put toward the final purchase price."

When it was pay in full, I think you could request a refund up until the options were requested. But with the deposit I think its non-refundable in order to account for material orders.

That was from the preorder days before any GFCs were delivered. With the massive production increases requiring substantial material orders, they changed that.

No spot, I'm trying to get one that would have a May or earlier delivery date.
