I am looking to “upgrade” my mud flaps from the OEM ones to something more flexible/durable.

The ones I bought were replica OEM’s and were pretty hard plastic, currently the gorilla glue is holding the mud flap together but I have been considering upgrading anyhow.

Anyone running an after market mud flap they like that can withstand some compression?

I would honestly take them off regardless of brand if you’re out wheeling. They all can rip off fairly easy if they get caught :(

Yeah that’s about where I’m at, I’m glad the mud guard just cracked and didn’t take anything off the underside of my truck.

I just was hoping there was a flexible budget friendly option out there

Cheapest option is probably just getting replacements for what you have. RokBlokz are like $150+ IIRC.

Husky makes some good ones also. Look similar to OEM but not as long and bulky. Good fitment and come with some 3M tape so they dont scratch paint. Fairly cheap also

Incorrect. Cheapest option, and best option, is no mud flap at all for the same reasons you mentioned in your first post. OP, they can also damage body panels if the mounting screws dont let go before anything else. Especially with the rigid factory ones.

He said he wants to replace them.. so I’m not incorrect.

I only run them on the highway during the winter (so I’m not cracking windshields behind me) now that I’m back east, or if they’re mandated for inspection. Otherwise, off.

Happy you mentioned the plasticolor, I’ve been looking at those, found them on Amazon for a pretty reasonable price. Might be a good replacement in the mean time

I just installed the Rally Armor. I am happy with them so far. Only cost like 23 for all four on Amazon. One of my stock flaps busted and was hanging by one bolt.

I have plasticolor ones, they even have a mtn logo that looks like the retro FJ one. Like other flat flaps, you will need to use longer screws and a small bracket to attach to the rear wheel wells.

Be aware; there are 3 or 4 grades of Rally Armors.
    FWIW, I have the UR+.
