Ok so first off I already know stock is best when it comes to intakes. That being said my OEM intake box is a little broken one of the rear tabs broke a few years ago. It still sealed so I left it. With a new engine coming for my truck in the new year I don't wanna take any chances, so far the only sealed unit attermarket intake I've found is the afe one, however; it's got that stupid extra intake hole in the bottom which is no beunno. Anyone seen anything else ? If all else fails I'll just order another OEM intake

If it were me, I'd get an OEM one at a wrecking yard. I see you are close to Vancouver,
so there should be a few nearby that have Toyotas.

    A thing or two...
Not sure why you think OEM is best for the intake. Aftermarket intakes almost always flow better than the stock intake system. Usually it's not massively better, but it's still an improvement.

Also, based on your comment about the "extra intake hole", I'm going to venture a guess and say that you haven't pulled the lid off the stock air box and looked behind the filter. There is a hole in the stock airbox in roughly the same spot. It needs a hole somewhere otherwise you wouldn't be sucking air into the engine. You'd just implode the plastic box under the engines vacuum. In the fenderwell behind the liner there's a massive resonator box that quiets the stock intake. I pulled mine when I installed my fiberglass fenders with plans to build some sort of snorkel. Without that resonator, there's just a 3-4" hole straight from the fenderwell into the airbox.

AFE's instructions don't have you remove that resonator in the fenderwell, so as long as their airbox seals relatively well against the inside of the fender than you're still going to be drawing air through it.

Most of this doesn't apply. Have a look at the truck in my profile pic and then ask if I've really never taken it all apart. The hope you speak of in the stock box, has been sealed on my truck and the OEM reaonator is fine as well as was necessary when I installed the snorkel. When I say stock is better than aftermarket it's because most cai systems are not actually cai, they're Short Ram. Also the cost vs gain is way out of wack.

Me personally? I know that a Toyota with a 2.7 will never be a power house. I will always stick with the stock intake because one of the reasons I think these engines last so long is because of the filtering the stock intake provides.

For the OP. Look around down here in the US and have them send you an OEM out of a junk yard. I know they may be hard to find but I would be surprised if "someone" down here doesn't have one laying on the shelf. For that matter, someone on this forum that changed their's out to aftermarket may have one they will sell for a decent price.

    I'm here for the memes
aFe Power makes some clean stuff. I am on their waiting list for development on the 3rd gen intake. They usually do have deals going on all the time so if you catch them at a good time u can prob save 15-20% off.

Like I said the intake box is broken where the lid attaches at the rear. I'm rebuilding my engine and so far have been unable to find a suitable replacement. Afe is pretty much off the table as the inlet on the box looks oval and they have not responded to my emails about it, so I'm assuming it won't hook up to my snorkel piping which is a must. With the 35s I now have no fender liners so without the snorkel it would suck up dirt and water. I've kept a close eye on wreckers near the border I'm willing to travel as far as Seattle but that is a 8 hr drive return provided there is no traffic so far nothing has come up

I’m with you tho, factory intake is the best for engine protection.

This is the wrecker app ya. I've been keeping an eye out. Unfortunately the 4cyl is pretty rare in the northwest. I'm legitimately the only guy that wheels one in BC. A lot of them get written off with front end damage so a lot of the time the air box doesn't survive

Convince some kid that he can gain 30 hp from a cold air intake then offer him $20 for his factory air box.
