I have began towing a 21ft small toy hauler travel trailer. The trailer is a fair amount wider than the Taco and the Taco "car" sized mirrors aren't helpful seeing the trailers sides and wheels. Previously I was using Fit System 3891 Deluxe Universal Clip-on Trailer Towing Mirrors. Although they worked they causing scuffs on my oem mirrors and in general are kind of a pain.

I was happy to see there was finally a 3rd tow mirror solution. These are the mirrors I have
    https://www.1aauto.com/2016-18-toyo...l-ridge-tr00405/i/1amrp02074?f=1172286&y=2017

They are plain plastic, heated, without a side marker. They make a side marker model but it is chrome and I don't like chrome. I didn't have heated oem mirrors so I can't report on that.

The install was fairly straight forward. Remove door panel similar to installing front door speakers. Remove the 3 black sticked on dots covering the 10mm mirror nuts, remove 10mm nuts, unplug, and replace.

The mirrors are bit huge here are some picture of before and after.

    A comparison:

    Clip ons (before)

    Mirrors normal

    Mirrors in tow mode

All in all I really like the mirrors especially for the money. For the money these might be one of my favorite purchases.

    Concerns.
    1. Between the mirrors size, lower Taco roof, and pillar there is fair amount of blind spot towards the front corner(fenders) on the truck.
    2. The mirrors do move(shake) some in the wind going down the interstate.
    3. Mirror will definately need to be manually flipped in going to a car wash.

I bought the same mirrors for my 2nd gen. Ended up returning them. I could see more with the stock mirrors. I couldn't stand how flat they were, no convex(if thats the right term?). I had a hard time being able to judge where cars were next to me. Mine vibrated pretty bad too, not enough for it to be an issue just kind of annoying lol. Glad you're having better luck with them!

Don’t all 3rd Gen Tacoma’s have heated mirrors?

There is a lot of convex in smaller blind spot mirror. There still is some issues with distance that I'm getting used to.

Apparently the do all have heated mirrors, I've owned my truck for 3 yrs and thought it was a rear defroster button. Thank!

Someone posted these a few weeks back. I have heated with signals and the chrome is horrible. After waiting for someone to make decent tow mirrors for this truck I decided against buying these.

I was hoping your review would make me go ahead and drop some money on them. Guess I am still waiting for decent tow mirrors.

I appreciate your honest review. The pics are a bonus! Based on your assessment, I have purchased the same. My only concern is the "mirrors do move (shake)" statement. If it's intolerable, I hope 1A Auto has a liberal return policy.

I'll let you all know how it works out.

I have been looking at these mirrors for my 2017. My only issue is I have BSM on my mirrors and the black ones don't. Do you know if these are plug and play with the trucks that have BSM on them?

Yah I saw those but I feel like the chrome looks like crap. Was hoping to be able to plug the black ones in with no issues. May just have to re wire a plug to the black mirrors.

I had a set on my '05 and they worked well. It did take a little getting used to with distances in the passenger side mirror. Did not have any noticeable vibration issues. I will be ordering a set for my new '17.

Are they any nice alternative to this ? I’d like something that tucks in more ?

Also for people that have these, hows the blind spot?

I did buy a pair for my 3rd gen. Recently took an 800 mile round trip towing my enclosed trailer. The mirrors worked great and gave good visibility when backing up. No vibration on the highway and no blind spot in tow or regular mode. The convex mirror picks up vehicles on either side.

Ok ! Seems like I’ll get it... I need it for towing because the stock ones are horrible for towing

Did you replace the LEDs or check your wiring connection? Is the mirror still under warranty?
