I must be pretty fortunate because i've only gotten one flat tire that required the use of a spare.

those indentions are cosmic and will even out once you put it on the truck and drive for a few miles

How was the air pressure, and were there any indentations?

At the time I didn't give a crap it blew out when the windchill was bone cutting cold. It was round and made of rubber and zero f's were given. I pulled in behind a building to try and take the edge off the cold. It was -30F with the windchill. This was on my f150. I was so pissed when it blew out that i drove with that bitch flat for three miles because I sure the hell wasn't changing it on the side of a highway.

    LMAO

Been there and done that, btw. Except I tried to make it the full ten miles home to a heated garage, only to be pulled over about a mile from the house. Officer pointed out the grooves the wheel was putting in the asphalt and gave me a lift home.
Went back for it an hour later and drove it home... on the rim.

Eh. Think of the beating a tire takes on the road when you are going down the highway at 70. There is nothing even close to that abuse that could happen to the tire any time it's not mounted to a vehicle.

There are two threads discussing this same issue. On one of them someone suggested using a pool noodle. I am giving it a try.

I just dropped my spare in prep for undercoating and noticed the same thing. Only 1,500 miles on it and large indents already. Putting new tires on next Saturday. Will have to sacrifice a pool noodle. Good idea!

    Wow. Nice thread revival.
I first used a donor tire and cut the sidewall out of it and put it on top of the spare. Worked great, but caused the spare to hang about an inch lower and it was noticeable enough to bother me.
I now use pool noodles, have for about a year and it works great
