All of these photos are from today. They were taken in the DFW Texas area, so not down a mountain.

Trips (second one included a trip through a drive through)

Tank (filled up just under 30k miles)

I constantly get 20 mpg, which is better than my 04 2.4 single cab, so I’m real Impressed

I'm only getting 16-18 mpg on mixed highway and town driving, and I'm light on the gas. But the truck has less than 3,000 miles on it, so I'm hoping the mileage improves down the road.

Average means current, and best refers to saved values. But yeah, Toyota math.

All these high-mile Taco's are making me feel bad. No pics but the best i've seen on any decent length trips was in the mid 20's.

I find that I average 18 across the board. When I drive slow, when I drive like an asshole I always see 18. (any1 drive like an @$$ and get better than 18?)
    80/20 local/hwy.
I do anticipate lights and avoid using brakes, but out of habit, not necessarily for mpg. Rather be in motion than stopped/stopping.

I’m getting 23.4mpg over my first 10,000 miles tracked with Fuelly. Mine is an SR5 4x2 V6 with stock tires and original lower valence / air-dam intact.
My last ten tanks averaged a bit higher. I’m doing 25/75% (city/hwy) driving in SoCal for most of those miles, but I also take my truck on high clearance “4x4” forest roads.

When off-road I’m driving to have fun and get to trailheads. When commuting I’m thinking about efficiency; I use a light foot, look ahead for light and traffic patterns, and coast when it makes sense. I would have bought a hybrid version of this truck. My wife drives a Prius Prime that gets 90+ mpg, and I enjoy driving it too.

Having lived in some of the smoggiest areas of California, and being relatively informed about climate science, I think high(er) MPG numbers and stricter emission controls are worth the time and energy and cost.

We have been averaging 20 mpg with our new 18 tacoma. V6 4x4 auto. mostly rural driving 55 mph 2 lane roads.
With only 350miles on the clock I hope it gets better, but if not still a respect full number.. What octane fuel are you using? Oh ya no load or trailer, just empty 2 person, hauler at the moment. Thanks jp

    These were taken yesterday.

    Trip

    Tank

Long term (average is Toyota speak for 9/9/18 through yesterday)

    Interesting observation.
I filled up at 29997 miles, so this tank was 446 miles. Fillup was 18.366 gallons, for 24.3 mpg. Seems the computer is a little optimistic, but not a lot.

This is the first time I've run it low enough on fuel to have the warning light come on.

My average over 14 months is in my fuelly sticker. 19.8 mpg I have a stock DC OR.

I have had close to 30 vehicles so far and vast majority of them got right around the combined mpg number. I'm getting 19.8 mpg in the Taco and the sticker says I should be getting 20 mpg. So the sticker I would say is right on. These trucks can easily get high 20s on the highway doing 55-60 mph and just as easily very low teens in stop and go traffic.

The cool weather is having a negative effect on my fuel economy, but I still don't understand the folks getting 15-17. My drive to work is 4 miles each way. In the morning when it is cold, I have been starting it, firing up the butt warmer, getting out to scrape windows, then driving to work. It barely gets warmed up when I get there. I have been stuck in traffic jams, and still got north of 20mpg.

What in the heck are you guys doing? Pushing your truck? My 2018 DCOR auto is only getting 16mpg, all stock and mostly interstate on cruse control and most of my roads are not big, long hills by any means. I have a bit over 3500 miles on it. Now I love my truck and I’m not complaining but I sold a crew cab Silverado that was getting in the low 20ties and it was an 8 cyl.

A $1.86 for a gallon of gas? Screw that.

I only use The $3.59 variety here in California!

Is your truck 4wd? Was your Silverado also 4wd?

My Limited is 2wd. I don't drive over 70mph, and drive easy. That is it. Tires are at stock pressures, etc.
