Has anyone installed an LED Light bar behind their grille on a 3rd Gen Taco? Would love to hear everyone's thoughts on these. Looks like Cali Raised LED has a good option here, but I am curious how much a stock grille will impede the light output. I'd like this to be somewhat functional, but can't go with the more optimal lower bumper light bar because of a winch.

I’m interested in this as well.. following

I like the lower bumber bar. How would we connect this? To the fog lights switch? Or, would we need to add a new switch on the dash?

To install, you just need a wiring harness and a switch that fits into one of the blank spots on the dash. I suppose you might be able to wire it to the fog lights switch, but that sounds like a hassle.

Actually, you don't need either - if you're handy. I have one of their bars behind the lower grill in my 2nd Gen. I simply wired it through a relay and triggered it off of my high beams.

Getting back to the OP's question, I can personally attest to the fact that at least in a 2nd Gen truck, the performance is more than adequate. I'm pretty sure the performance in a 3rd Gen would be pretty much the same.

I have the caliraised lower grill light bar, you do loose a little of the light but it is still brighter and provides move coverage than brights. And the wiring harness for a light bar isn’t too hard to run;I just put a new switch in the one blank spot I have since the light bar isn’t highway legal.

Closing this out - I purchased the behind grille light bar and installed it on my truck, i'm sure there's some dimming from the grille but it's hardly noticeable
