Hey Guys this is my first post here. just recently purchased a 2019 OR and was planning on modding it a bit. I was stuck between getting a pro and an OR but figured I could personalize my build for cheaper.

since I live in Quebec lifts are a max of 2.5" I was planning on lifting it a bit and modifying the suspension. I also has to tow a trailer from time to time no more than 4000 lbs. is it still possible to modify and still be able to tow? and what would you all recommend for a slight lift and nice suspension upgrade for all around fun?

    thanks for the feedback.

I have a mild OME lift and I tow all the time - they're not mutually exclusive by any means.

If you add airbags for towing I highly recommend the Daystar cradles so your rear suspension can still flex when wheeling.

Welcome to TW  - and, sorry you found the site :spending:

Yes you can tow with a lift. Depending on your off-roading; consider sliders and skids.

If you have to ask about lift, tires, etc - you are not ready for them, wheel more!

Your truck is capable enough in stock form. You can add skid plates if you plan to explore further than just dirt roads. I've traveled with a @PcBuilder14 doing Mojave trail and he had stock tires, suspension and only steel skids.

If you plan towing, I suggest adding either airbags or something like timbren bump stops.

Looking into the Dakar HD leaf pack myself. I’ll be towing a motorcycle trailer with a loaded bed and hope to optimize payload and also add about 2” of lift.

Hey Norilsk, well that's the thing. in the province that I live I will have to swap out my tires as soon as I pick up my truck in a couple weeks. we have mandatory snow tires here. so if I have to do the tires figured I might as well get right into the suspension lift rather than having to redo the tires one more time once the suspension lift is on the truck. we cant run airbags here either. they have laws stating the lift cant be more than 2.5" high. I got a quote from a distributor who sells OME... the nice thing about this is since I know the person at the dealership they would be able to place the lift and tires on my loan. This is what I got quoted on for an OME suspension lift thats also capable of hauling.

    what are your opinions?

I am aware of that law, something that Ontario needs too...
So what kind of tires are you planning to get in terms of a size? 255/265 don't need a lift, while 285 will require about 1.5" of lift and possibly CMC (cab mount chop).

The OME product is solid and @tacoma16 runs those/similar with his beast truck (check it out).

How much was the quote for the OME? Looking for a good local deal before ordering from headstrong off-road

Edit: oops just saw the quote attached. Close to a quote I got at a local BC shop for $1799

@DannyTaco13 love the suspension. It’s a good system for the money. It’s well engineered. Only downfall of the front suspension is you need to choose a weight of coil as you can’t adjust it (the new ones may be different but I’m just running the nitro chargers and 886 coils.

    Good luck!

You’ll have no issues with the Dakar pack.

Hey tacoma16 thanks for the input. can you tell me what parts the distributor recommended from the quote he gave me?

also what is the major difference between a stock OR suspension and a set up like this? Is the stock suspension, rims, tires worth something if I take it off right away before use for resale?

    here is the full quote.

Hey Norilsk, hopefully fit some 275/ on 17's, not sure which 17's yet. we cant have tires stick out further than fenders/flaps here in Quebec either...

Pricing looks about right. I don’t know what coils you are getting though.

Essentially you are getting the exact same setup as me however your coils I am not sure of. The nitrocharger shocks are good and I have been happy with them. In the rear I have just recently switched them to longer shocks but the ones I had originally purchased lasted 90k km. The front is still going.

Your not going to get top dollar for the stock stuff but it is worth a couple hundred dollars.

Additionally you may want to consider upper control arms (I have light racing) to get your alignment in check. Not necessary but something to budget for if your alignment isn’t the best.

Go 255/80/17. Will give you a 33” tire that is within the fenders.

Its not so much the tire width 265 or 285 but the offset of your wheels that get the rubber out past the fender flares. If you want to keep it inside your fenders you will have to check specs on the wheel if your getting aftermarket wheels.

I 2nd this love my pizza cutters, I also have the ome 886s an nitrochargers front/rear an HD dakars. Being armored will smooth out the ride, its still a little rough for CFO so I will be getting coilovers but to me its fine. Ive romped mine fairly good no issues with it.

Yes wheel specs do matter however to run a 285 for instance you will have to run a more aggresive offset to get the tire off of the spindle or uCA which pushes the tire outside the fender.
I loved my pizza cutters. Took the plunge though on 35’s

Totally agree, the OP is in a tough spot with the rules he has to work with. Might have to invest in some fender flares.
