I'm closer to about 10 r&p installs. So no machining, or using different bearings, adjusting factory carrier pre load shims, or pinion shims? Just dropped right in with no major work?

You dont shim these diffs.... preload is done with a spanner. Toyota diffs are the easiest I've ever worked with.

Back at it....somewhat..... Been on a bit of a break. Old doctor retired, got a new one...New doc wanted complete testing of his own. What was suspected, but never officially diagnosed as Parkinsons Disease ended up NOT being Parkinsons. Good news.... Now the bad. Officially MS. Already having trouble walking...Sorta in a bit more of a rush to get things done now. (While I can)

About to start another phase with the truck as weather breaks....New tires (soon) New front coils and shocks (soon) and new leafs/shocks on rear (soon) 96K on current shocks, 177K on rear leafs. Gonna raise things a bit (1-1/2" is target) Figure why NOT swap shocks while I'm at it.

Retire date just weeks away. We'll be on two long road trips by late summer and into the fall. Looking at tires to make that trip better (quieter, better gas mileage would be a plus, less wear) Still in the thinkabaoutit mode. Even thought about K-Bros for the trip, then sell 'em when that's over.

Also will do snorkel (finally) and roof rack (on garage floor now) before heading west. Already made the move from 6 day a week work schedule to 5....Will be ZERO days a week soon. Time to finish what has turned into a 4-1/2 year (so far) project.

For now.....Next project is a new mid bearing on rear drive shaft. 177K miles, it HAS to be worn. Should be into that tomorrow morning.

Time is always a determining factor in doing this sort of stuff....And I didn't have much free time with old job schedule. That's lightened up a LOT, back to 5 days a week, and 8 hours a day max. Then I'm outta here end of June, with vacation time until August retire date. NOW there will be time to play.

Dark grey leather Clazzio's on the way!

Now to decide on tires for the road trip!

Roof rack goes on next, after the seats.

So.......Good AT tires for quiet, higher mileage, and not an incredible "give up" of off road traction just to get decent on road.... Go...!

2 trips this summer. Long circuitous route all over tarnation....5500 miles + of highway driving. Leaving the STT PRO's home in the garage for this one. Even thinking about K-br0's! (Then sell 'em when trip is done?)

These tires will be used primarily for this trip....then back with mud tires once we're home. So I won't be wearing them out.... I'm a Cooper fan, but I can get 5 285/75r16 BFG KO2's for almost $400 less. 2 friends with Falken's...Not providing ringing endorsement on tread wear.... For the record...I'm looking for something "different". 2 sets of STT PRO's in a row. Love 'em, just want something "new" to me.

I just think it's a laugher that I'd even consider KO2's as much as I've put 'em down. (street tires.....for well paved mall parking lots!)

I know I'm probably just a fanboy, but I still really like my KO2s. I've had 265/75-16 for about 40,000 miles (still have probably another 10K miles left on them) and have found that I keep up with everyone off-road without any trouble, and really like the way they perform on the road. When I get new tires in the next year or so I'm highly considering getting these in a 285/75-16 because they've been good to me, and they weigh less than the Coopers.
