New “official” thread for tips, tricks, and build outs for the GFC. Please contribute with pics/ links and descriptions of your GFC camper buildout’s and modifications you’ve done.

Try to use one post for Mods and update as your build evolves (in that same post) it’ll make linking to builds much simpler. Thank you.

GFC 80 something, built a custom bike tray and storage solution. Easy in and out with the bike being on 52in slides. Mounted a waterport on the front rail as well (Part number is PT278-35100-BH, genuine Toyota part that comes on 2nd gen. It will bolt right up). Front runner tracks to strap down the yeti and some Wolfpacks as well. Sewed up a bag for my front wheel and strapped it down using some d rings from Amazon. Stick on lights and cargo net are some random ones from amazon. The rear window has a 40% tint, still can see out the back while driving but gives a ton of privacy.

Had an extra baja designs s2 sport, so I tossed it on for a chase light. I need to get a yellow lense.

Here's one... If you have a swing out blocking the rear camera and your view, I bought a camera that plugs right into the existing wiring harness. This thing is rock solid and gives a great image. No issues so far and I wheel every weekend and the truck goes swimming a lot. It is mounted to my bumper, but mounting it to the extrusion would be a great idea. Here is the link -> https://camera-source.com/2010-2015-toyota-tacoma-camper-camera-kit-plug-and-play.html IMG_20180925_070422-01.jpg 1549456371.jpg

@ace7196 can you post up some more pictures of that frame bag? I’ve been itching to make one myself, but am not to sure how to secure it to the camper.

Bicycle frame bags use Velcro attached on each side. That way they fit to any size tube. BTW Ace is awesome. King of GFC mods so far.

    This general idea....

I will have no time to do really any of these mods once I get the camper. Will shoot for doing some on the road I guess! I mostly want to do that mosquito netting one.

Great work!! Love the frame bag idea! I have made a few of these for bikes, and will for sure be making at least one for my GFC when I get it... in a year!

The jammers are a great call as well! I may have to figure a way to build some without a 3D printer.

I haven’t done anything fancy with mine still. I need to get that bug netting done before spring though.

@ace7196 would you be willing to make and sell those rear door awning mount pieces?

Understood. Didn’t see the update and thought they were one of your nifty 3D printed parts.

Awesome, does the bag only attach to the top tube with that one nut? Does the bag want to rotate?
