I get what you’re saying but for $6 I don’t mind changing it out once a year.

I like having a cabin air filter, I don’t like dust. Cleaner breathable air is a plus for me. Check/change at 5000.00mi oil change. Same with the intake air filter. Dusty roads and crop harvests, amazing what they keep out of the cabin and the engine.

For those of us with allergies, cabin filters are a plus. I change mine every 2 years along with the wiper blades. For me, this is every 10,000 - 12,000 miles. I use OEM parts.

Seriously dude? You do realize dust isn’t the only thing it catches right? Do you want leaves, twigs, etc stuck in your fan?

New studies have shown that drivers that breathe cleaner air due to vehicles equipped with cabin air filters are 25% more prone to developing sexual dysfunction and uncontrollable bowel movements later on in life.:anonymous:

lol, yeah. I ordered a cabin filter when I first bought my 2005 and realized that the 2005 models are not equipped with cabin filters. Maybe I'll start a poll 10 years later on TW on my claims above.

Good , now I don't have to tell my wife about my wood getting pithy and that she is going to have to clean up after more than just the dog!

Anyone ever try throwing a dryer sheet on top of the filter? I have been meaning to try it.

I don't think my 05 ever had one.
I just checked it today and there were a few small leaves inside the housing, it was dusty inside but overall it was not too bad for a 13 year old truck.

^^ I use the same filter. I change mine every 10k miles, along with the engine air filter. Seems to work for me

My 2005 does have a filter, and if you think getting leaves and debris into your blower motor squirrel cage (putting it out of balance and clogging up the vanes) and onto your evaporator is a good thing, you are mistaken sir. The leaves and debris will clog you a/c drain and the rotting leaves are not good for your evaporator. The cabin filter was a very needed upgrade to car's HVAC system and are cheap insurance. So you'd rather have this (and more) in your evap case, and eventually clogging your drain?

(Shot from under the cowl area where your 'fresh air' enters, looking down into the case. Filter is first line of defense)

Yea, I didn't really understand the whole filter thing either, thinking like you related to what it was for.

But it's actually a good idea that's simple to service.

In my old 89 Chevy before the Cabin filter I used to get leaves in the blower motor. Sometimes they would make a bunch of noise for a while before blowing out of the vent. One time I got hit right in the eyeball...

I love the cabin filter. It prevents dust from getting into the vent system, prevents the interior of the truck from getting dusty & prevents damage to the blower.
