I have seen a torsion spring setup for an assisted lift on Full Size tailgates.
Manufactured by Hopkins Mfg, called a Tailgate EasyLift
Anything similar to this for the Tacoma?

This gate is a bit heavy, and a struggle to do a one hand lift.
My short wife does a two handed press to close the gate.

    Any thoughts?

Probably won't fit the Tacoma anyway, but that long bar is the closure assist portion of the kit. Acts as a piece of spring steel once installed.

I happen to have a buddy in Costa Rica that just bought a 2018 Hilux. I think I will have him take some pictures and measurements.
Might be worth having him order it and ship it over.

Thank You, I always forget about the Hilux.

does your tailgate not have the factory assist? mine has a spring that keeps it from slamming open and thus also helps lifting it. make its pretty effortless in comparison to a non-assisted full size tailgate.
