3/4 Drop - Rim/Tire Suggestions

Hey I recently just did my DJM 3/4 drop on my 04 Reg Tacoma. I’ve been trying to find what other people lowered are riding with (rim, offset, tire size, etc.)

Right now, I’m riding with some stock wheel, The tires are 235/75/15 which rubs more than I would ever like. I read in the forum is that the tires shouldn’t be any more than 225 being this lowered.

I’m currently looking at some Gramlights 57DR gun blue 18x8.5 but I want to know what offset I should be considering before I purchase them. As well as tire size to have a decent ride.

My bad g! I’m actually considering the 17x9 so that I can have a little more tire for comfort.

 

You got any recommendations? These 17x9 wheels come in offsets of +12, +22, and +38. The other bit I got from reading through the forum is 3.75” or 4.5” backspacing but I don’t know whether these apply just to lifted, stock, or lowered vehicles.

Man, 35 is thin AF! But damn, just from looking at your car, I’m seriously considering getting a S-runner lip kit. Suck that I can only find Duraflex and VIS kits that are fiberglass.

You think I should go with the +12 or +22 based off your 17’s?

Yeah, this is what 195/50/15 looks like with the 3/4 drop on stock rims.

At least I’m not rubbing anymore lol but I’m probably gonna go up to 195 or 205/60/15

I’m guess I’m gonna save these tires for my brothers Hondas. They’re literally the same as the tires on his BBS RS.

 

What brakes do you have? I see a little bit of red caliper peeking out.

 

I have the cadillac ATS 4 piston brembos and 12.6" EVO9 Rotors by BR Autoworks. and STI stoptech SS brake lines. I'm not one to think that anyone needs BBK because your stock brakes stop just as good. but the other day I was in traffic and the person in front of me quick stopped and I had to break hard and I could feel it stop and usually thats all it takes to stop but i stepped on it hard because I was coming in hot and it was like a second set of brakes grabbed and stopped without locking up. it was then I realized that I was glad I did the brake upgrade.

 

Love it! I agree, I don't think the stock brakes are terrible, I have some aggressive pads and stock rotors and it really stops when I need it to! Brake dust like crazy but small trade off.

So did BR Autoworks supply the rotors ready to mount - all machined and drilled to attach to the hub? How much were they? I've looked into having them machined locally and no one near me wants to touch it for liability reasons...

 

Some kind of wide 15 or 16 inch wheels would look good. No idea what would actually work.

No, I still had to get them machined. they were looking into machining it for me but I didn't have the specs on hand. I had a guy I have here in San Diego machine it for me.

 

if you are in san diego or close to us, i can give you his contact. he charges $80/ rotor and does impeccable work.

 

I used to live in Huntington Beach, now I'm all the way across the country in NC! I wonder if I could order them and have them delivered to him and then have him ship it to me once he's done with 'em. Sure would be nice though if I could find someone local to do it! Ooooh, I wonder if I can find someone to machine them down in Mooresville (basically the NASCAR capital). Surely there's gotta be some machine shop in that area that will do it!

No worries dude! I'm currently waiting on my wheels to come and have been working on a '89 BMW 325i vert w/ a M50 swap I picked up a couple months ago. Finally got that boy to start last week!
