In the last couple bored winter nights I’ve spent a fair amount on bike parts. New handguards, foot pegs, saddlebag racks, aux LED lights, windshield riser kit, and strobing LED taillight bulbs. Bought new boots too so I can break them in so they’re comfortable when the spring comes.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
Onto the next adventure. Your a$$ will thank you.

MSF and endorsement done. It's wet season so bikes are cheap. Wife has okayed me a bike while I do grad school. Modular helmet, armored hoodie, gloves, kevlar jeans, and ankle protecting boots obtained.

Mostly a 'get to school' and/or weekend toy.

    Also, I'm kinda short.

I think I have my short list in order.

Super Cub 125 (the 'new has ABS' option)
    VanVan 200
    Trail 110 (the 'vintage' option)

    Thoughts?

I've put my butt on a Versys 300 and CBR300/500 and am 'okay' with them, but they don't really say anything to me at this point. The Triumph Street Twin is RAWR, but a little over my budget for something that won't get ridden all that often (unless I go to bike-to-school a bit more often).

I’ve ridden a VanVan a few times and it wasn’t bad. For just getting around town it wouldn’t be a bad choice, but if you are looking at any streets with speeds over 50mph I’d consider something with a bit more power. It’s a fun, light little bike.

Well I'm no loon by any means, so no interstates for me (unless it's an emergency).

I like my cb500f a lot. comfortable riding position, good for bepoppin around town but can handle highways. naked bike means wind all up in your business at highway speeds, at least in my experience. if you like the "adv" style bikes there is alot a cb500x with a refresh coming soon I believe. Goodluck and have fun with the process!

I also have a CB500 (CB500T). My first bike was a GS500E. Agreed, both great first bikes. Light, great for commuting to campus and work. Fine for highway use.

I had a GS500 for my first bike too! 1996. It had a fairing, but I converted back to naked. Then I grew out of it in 3 months, and went to a CBR600 F4i

Mine was a '96 naked! Plum purple/dark blue with dark alloy wheels.

1st picture is when I got it.

Cant find anything after the conversion.. it was fun, and I actually miss it.

Slow in here. Guess that’s how it is when 75% of the country is in winter!

Put my new to me DK intake/air cleaner on today. Didn’t re-jet the carb but I’ll see how it runs before I decide if I need to. I’m not sure how big of a performance upgrade this is over stock. Definitely looks better though.

Next up is oil change and a wash, then cleaning the garage and organizing tools, etc.

My weekends have been spent working on other people's trucks while my bike looks at me with as sad, droopy headlight. Might ride tomorrow thogh

Finally took my written test and scheduled my exam. The instructor is probably gonna trip and ask how I insured and registered my bikes without a license or a permit. No more riding dirty.

Don’t be neglecting the bike like that!

Where do you live? Good weather for riding right now?

Supposed to be mid 50s next week but raining. And it’s been snowing every other week so the roads still have salt and sand in a lot of places. I probably won’t be on the bike again until April.

We're expecting rain this week Wed-Sat, a break on Sunday and then rain again on Monday and Tues. It'll be overcast, but high 50s this week so perfect riding weather where I'm not simmering in ball soup under my gear. Trouble is I get off work at 6 and it gets dark around 4:30. Probably just making excuses, but rush hour traffic in the dark in LA is Russian roulette on a motorcycle. So glad they passed those laws to keep our exhaust quiet too.
