The manual Trd sport has a hill assist feature where you have a few seconds before the truck rolls back anyway

That's correct. Especially with a tandem axle trailer you want to make sure you load is somewhat balanced on the trailer and you have the appropriate tongue weight.

Surprisingly this helps a lot, it just took some getting used to for me. The manual Fords I towed with in the past had a foot emergency brake so I couldn't even do that trick to hold me on the hill.

Do all the manuals have this feature? I have a 2017 2.7l AC SR 4x4 5MT and it has hill assist also. I don't tow a boat yet...

Wife's Subaru has this feature (they call it "anti-rollback"), and I absolutely HATE it. It keeps your brakes jammed on for a bit while you're trying to go.

Two "that would be nice" mods I may do someday on my Off Road are the "anytime e-locker" and the "2 wheel lo range" mods. both could come in handy on the boat ramp. I've wished I had the 2 wheel lo range mod quite a few times when backing uphill with my boat in tow but I could also see using it on the ramp. Being able to lock the rear diff without having to put it into 4wd would be great on the launch ramp.

I agree about the 2 lo. It would be amazing for backing the boat back in to its precarious spot without roasting a clutch. Don't really have to worry about that now that I have an automatic though.
