Thats great, im seriously considering this unit now. A couple more questions.

    1. Does the touch screen also support climate control from the screen? (I have a 2014 with manual dials for A/C / heating)

    2. The manual talks about a parking sensor warning, my guess is that it would beep the closer you get to an obstacle. Does that also work with tacoma?

The Maestro is supposed to keep the steering wheel controls, but I'm not using it for them—I had already cut off the steering wheel controls harness and hooked in an Axxess controller a couple of years ago: https://axxessinterfaces.com/product/ASWC-1?category=AX-RSWC The Axxess still worked fine (just had to tell it that it's now connected to an Alpine instead of a Pioneer).

    Nope, those are still manual.

If your Tacoma has a proximity sensor it might work when hooked up to the Maestro, but mine doesn't have a sensor, only the camera. You can adjust the proximity LINES on the camera display—a red, yellow and green line depending on how far something is away. It's up to you to determine how far away you want each color to symbolize...the headunit can't tell anything about what's actually going on in the camera video so it has no idea how far away things really are.

Here are the instructions from the manual:

Unless you can point one out that isn't cheap or crippled, then I absolutely stand by my statement.

The Alpine doesn't do XM itself, but supposedly the Maestro does. They have an antenna adapter: https://www.amazon.com/iDatalink-Maestro-ADS-HRN-ANT-SAT1-Aftermarket-Satellite/dp/B012FARZ3M My truck actually has the antenna but I've never used the XM so I can't tell you how it hook it up or if it works.

Backup camera IS triggered when you go into reverse. I unplugged the camera from the harness and hooked it up to the Maestro directly so you can also turn the camera on whenever you want, not just in reverse.

I’ve had my lix107 sitting in its box for the last; hopefully in one to two months I’ll get it installed (along with a lot of other things)

OP, to answer your question- not all of us care for the extra stuff that pricier units have. I'm so old school that I to look up what's this CarPlay and android auto talk is about. I just finally upgraded my OEM this weekend because I was installing aftermarket cameras for the front and rear('05 didn't come with tailgate camera). I'm also cheap so I bought the cheapest kenwood crutchfield was selling that would support 2 cameras, bluetooth, and at least wired hookup for Waze navigation app. For $340(still considered pricey for me) the kenwood ddx575bt with complete steering wheel controls and trim kit, it plays my music via BT and wireless hands free calling. Didn't care for the option of climate controls etc.. Cheap aftermarket front and rear cameras work great. Makes parking a DCLB much easier.

General questions who have the 107 and iDatalink Maestro combo...

Im currently going through all the different wire harnesses and labelling what goes where, and which connects into what etc.....anyways, I noticed the iDataLink harness has an illumination output....but the Alpine Ilx 107 does not have an illumination input correct? So am I correct in assuming the buttons on the Alpine remain on constantly?

The real question for me is — is there a dash trim kit that doesn’t squeak like freakin’ crazy whenever the body hits a bump or flexes? I have an aftermarket single din unit, and the kit I bought has rather good finish and quality, but holy cow is it noisy sometimes. I use a toothpick stuck in the middle, at the bottom, between the factory mold and the dash trim kit to help limit the squeaking. I guess the toothpick doubles as a vertically-challenged vampire spear. Should the need arise that I defend myself against the undead. So it’s not all bad.

Edit: should add that I’m looking at updating to this unit should a quieter trim kit be available.

What kit are you currently using? A photo of the setup would be helpful

My truck is currently in the shop for my OME suspension install, but maybe this will help.

I bought the Scosche single din dash kit off of Amazon and a Kenwood headunit from Best Buy, basically to Bluetooth music from my phone, and be able to hear the audio direction prompts from google maps without having to look at my phone.

I mean, I like it all, but all the plastics make a racket when the truck moves. Actually, it’s probably the plastics of the inner part of the dash kit and that “sleeve” that secures the headunit that rub and squeak. It’s annoying. But I’m never without a toothpick.

There probably isn’t a solution to my petty problem, and I just want something new and shiny.

I'm thinking of a new head unit. I see that Crutchfield has this Alpine for $699, but is listing the Pioneer AVIC-W8400NEX at $899 on a big discount.

Incremental cost isn't much higher for the 8400, but is it worth the extra cost? At $1,199 originally, it would be easy to ignore the 8400.....

Just curious... How does one get to be listed as a vendor?

    Really?

This guys knows nothing about nothing and does not care anything about Tacoma's. He is just trying to sell a product. He called Pioneer (garbage), yes it's true, but so is Alpine.

He's not offering to sell the unit; the link he provides goes to Crutchfield. Unless he owns stock in Crutchfield, he will not be earning any money directly from you if you buy one.

His vendor name is CameronTech and he offers only one item for sale, a digital inclinometer.

Got a 4 month update for us? Are all features working as they should? Have you had any issue with the switching portion not working? Looking into this same exact setup...
