Time to start parking farther away from the entrance door to the retail establishments. People always want to park as close as damn possible to the entrance so they don't have to walk an extra 10 seconds. I often park at the far end of the lot (even at Home Depot) and I don't have any door dings from when I lived in California.

I can't wait until my sliders arrive. I'm afraid to take my truck to a crowed shopping center.

I do this. There's always that one person that will sometimes decide to park right next to you though.

Never considered this added benefit of sliders. It will help me with the justification to my wife when I add them to my build.

I do plumbing and refuse to go to Stockton. Every time I have been down there someone is always trying to break into service truck trailers what ever. I avoid Stockton like the plague.

I think you spelled something wrong.

    Nailed the irony, though.

Not from Stockton but a relevant anecdote nonetheless...

I grew up in LA county in a suburb where there was plenty of space, big parking spots and everyone was respectful. Not until I went to Santa Monica/LA city area did I realize that people out there are animals when it comes to parking. Got my rear bumper smashed in a hit and run, door paint chipped (still don't know how) and even had someone hit me while parking and then left their car pressed into my front bumper/plate and went on with their shopping. Got some side steps and avid front guard to help but still worried every time I parked out there.

It wasn't until my last year of school that I ended up dating a girl who helped shed some light on the parking mentality of the locals. She was great in so many ways, until I drove with her. When parking she would use her bumpers to let her know when to stop backing up. I couldn't believe it! She even had a backup camera but would still backup until she hit the car behind her. First time I saw this I freaked out and thought we'd have to leave insurance, etc. She looked at me and said "why?". I said "you hit the car when you were parking!". I'll always remember what she told me next: "it was just the bumper, that's what they are there for. Why do you think they call them bumpers?". We are not dating anymore and I no longer live in that area.

After frequenting Oakland, you should also not leave your valuables exposed in your vehicle in Fairlyland.
