From the responses page, how are you guys hitting $36,500 with Premium and Tech? That's wild! I guess those 2 are from T3G.

Anyone can write, or say what they are paying/deals they are getting. Don't believe 90% of them. Show us the paper work.....

Why should we disbelieve 90% of them?

Been back and forth with a few different dealerships. Im trying to get a 2019 Tacoma Off Road 4x4 Premium and tech package, floor mats. They are at $41,744.45 OTD. What you think about that? I'm located in San Diego, Freeman was around the same price OTD for the same truck. Im going to try and get them throw in a extended warranty with it. And i just sold my car so ill be putting down the cash for it.

Doubt they'll throw in the good extended warranty.
Oh, and it's been about 25 years since waving cash in front of a dealership gave them a woody. They make more $$$ if people finance.

Being fair and reasonable, I'd offer them $40k OTD. Bite if they meet you at $41k. That's just me. I'll be picking mine up at $40k. I say $41k because I'm assuming taxes are higher where you're at. Seems like they left in a $1000 buffer. That's my speculation comparing it to the deal I made. Which is basically what another guy was offered on the previous page.

Assuming the truck is $41418, $3000 off + $1000 rebate. That's pretty solid if you go off the 10% off MSRP rule of thumb. Squeeze them for another $1k and go for it.

Make sure you do this IN PERSON and not over the phone or email. They will be more desperate to sell to you right then and there on the spot. I'd even have my check book in hand so they can see you're ready to pay $40,000 OTD right now. And if they don't, then simply walk out the door and they will come chasing after you.

Stealers are going for max profit...it's its a business for profit. They are not in business to do you a favor. It's up to you to do homework, especially in a high demand vehicle like a Tacoma. End of month and holiday factory discounts combined give you the best advantage, if there is one.

That depends. I had two dealers let me walk after lengthy sit downs and a test ride. No phone call after, no follow-up either and we weren't all that far apart. Several weeks later I went back to my first dealer, who was one that let me walk, and we did the deal for what I was willing to pay in the first place. Sometimes they're either so busy and preoccupied, or just not that smart and they don't realize how close you and them really are.

One time when I went to look at a $8000 motorcycle that I wanted the salesman let me walk. I shook his hand, thanked him for his time and headed for the front door. As I was going thru the door the sales manager came over to just say thanks and sorry we couldn't make a deal that day. I was polite in return, and remarked to him that, you know, it's a shame since we are only $400 apart. He frowned, seemed surprised and a little angry, and ran over to the salesman's desk and picked up the worksheet he was using. He scratched out the final number and lowered it $300. I agreed to that and came up the other $100 and we did it. So, sometimes people can't see how close you are and don't know how to finish a deal.

I used to sell. Sometimes people are ridiculous. Some people are harder to read. I was always transparent and nice. Gave people their space. It was appreciated. Different styles.

Oh yeah, I can agree that people can be hard to read probably because most people come in to buy with their guard up and ready to rumble from all the bad 'thieving, lying used car guys' stereotypes from years past.

The place I wound up buying from was no high stress, no high pressure and soft spoken from the salesman to the manager.

I too, sold Toyotas back in 2005 after my retirement from my career, but even though I held my own as a new guy, but the culture of the dealership was 'just do anything to get their deposit in your hand'. Lying lying, lying was the norm. I only stayed like 5 or 6 months. I spent 30 years in law enforcement building my reputation, I wasn't ready to throw that away just to sell some cars.

Basically this is why I tell people to just be an asshole to get what you want from dealerships. Tell the salesmen he can only get up from his chair twice or you're walking out the front door. If he gets up more, leave. Stick your ground on your price and if they try to up sell you on upgrades and other nonsense, leave. They may chase you out the door, ignore them and drive off. They will call.

Not saying 100% of them are like this, but it is definitely the majority.

    Be careful people.

I finally put a deposit down to order a trd Sport Access Cab Manual. But my internet dealings with various dealers included the following:

    1. Mis-quoting MSRP by about $400-600 above what it should be in my area.

    2. Lying about what invoice pricing by stating that the true invoice price is "Invoice + Destination (1095) + Advertising fee (700something) = the actual invoice Price", and then state "so we are actually offering it to you for $1000 under invoice!!

    3. Quoting me a price with the current $1,000 rebate, when that ends on 02/04/19, and my truck will def not be here by then, so low and behold I would be stuck paying $1,000 more or lose my deposit if I didn't want to then buy.

I finally picked a price of $32,500 including dealer fees, and settled for $32,640 with dealer fees. One dealer met me on it, the other's tapped out. But we shall see if there is any other tricks before I am done. maybe i will get it less if there is an active rebate after my truck comes in.

Never put a deposit down. If they won't order it for you for free, then find another dealer. IMO

Looking for some guidance. I have been looking at a 2019 Tacoma TRD Off Road Cement 4x4 DCSB with the premium and tech package. I have been quoted 37500 minus fees. Is this good or should I be able to negotiate more?

Well, where do you live? I'm in California and a few weeks ago I picked up a 2019 Tacoma OR Cavalry Blue 4x4 DCSB with Tech package for $32,941 minus fees. So your dealer is charging you an additional $4,559 for the premium package...I'd get a better deal or have them drop that down to at least $35,500.
