That tongue extension is going to make baking that trailer up so much better! The original length causes these things to jack-knife in the blink of an eye...

Yeah, the original tongue is beefy AF, but I couldn’t figure out a way to extend from that tongue. I had to re-engineer the whole tongue and bracing from the two front cross members.

Especially the front x-member. It was rotted to almost dust. Lol.

Going with round fenders to stay with the "look"

These are the only ones that I found that will fit my 33" x 10.5" Cooper ST-Maxx's

    eTrailer 36" x 13" round fenders

Current leaf springs look good, but since I beefed up the deck, front and rear gates, two x-members and tongue assembly, I've decreased the 500 lbs payload significantly.

    GVWR = 1050 lbs
    Rated payload = 500 lbs.
    Estimated added weight =200-250 lbs
    New payload = 250 - 300 lbs

Will get these new HARD to FIND 8-leaf springs from a Jeep Restoration website called "Quarter Ton and Military Restoration Parts"

Thanks to @Grand dude for finding this site.

I'm guessing that this Bantam Trailer was made immediately post WWII, that the Bantam Company carried over most of the Jeep sized parts from the WWII era Jeeps (reduces tooling and manufacturing effort.) These springs are not your standard trailer springs.

    Will have to get new:
U-bolts, but need to verify that these are 2-3/8" radius for my new axle.
    Spring eye bolts
Not sure if I need new spring bushings, or if it comes with the new leaf pack.
    Might need new shackles.

New u-bolts are splayed at an angle because the U-bolt plate is designed for 1.75" width springs and the trailer springs are 2" wide.

Had to fab my own 1/4" plate. Came out quite nicely:

Axle perch needs to be welded on.

Decided to try axle under the springs. Not sure if that’s how I want it. The trailer seems a little high.

    All bolted up.

@Skierrichy gave me a hand with bed floor and the front and rear gates. My girls were getting tired of the heavy lifting and the extreme cold.

Mocking up the round fender from eTrailer.

It was 13.5” wide and ____” long.

Trimmed off 2” in width and 5.5” in length.

    Might need more trimming.

@Rexfordian13 - Are you able to source parts for this trailer? I need leaf springs and the current ones aren't even close to the 1.75" x 35.5" (eye-to-eye) 8-leaf. The current is 4 leaf, aren't a matched pair, and one side sags more than the other.

Leaf springs for 1941-53 Jeep MB, GPW, CJ-2A, CJ3-A are bolt on.

Found a great deal for a 10-leaf pack with exact fit. at Quadratec.com, but still looking for the spring bolts, 7" x 2-3/8" ID u-bolts and shackles. Any ideas?

I picked up some leaf packs several years ago to replace mine, they were not the suggested Jeep packs but something from a shop that seemed like they would fit. They’re buried in the garage right now, I’ll see if I can find them and post pics and details. Currently, my originals are in rough shape.34479C84-E3F2-4114-9B85-1A7E18196495.jpg

    Thanks man!

    Your trailer is a T3-C ?

The mystery of my leaf suspension is starting to unravel. Not only is my 4-leaf springs wrong and mis-matched, the rear leaf shackle appears to be wrong.
    D63E3B70-9F6E-48A7-882F-7687CDD44F0B.jpg

I might be able to get the correct rear shackle after looking at your pic.
    This may be it:
    https://www.quadratec.com/products/918270_13.htm

I count 8 leaves in your pic. When you get a chance, can you measure the depth of all
8 leaves so I can figure out what length u-bolts I need?

Can you also measure the OD of your axle? My aftermarket axle is 2-3/8” OD. Now I can’t seem to find the correct U-bolt with the ID that fit my axle AND long enough to manage 10 leaves.
