I'm cooking pork right, about to pull it at 140. 145 is food industry safe for pork.

 

I believe she cooks them like 12-13 mins.

 

nice. Yeah, I always messed up pork because I was worried about "trichinosis" and always over cooked any I had. But its not that common anymore.

About once a month I travel up to Santa Maria, CA for work. The area is famous for Tri-tip and pit BBQs.
I found this Mexican hole-in-the-wall place that has been around forever on a lunch break a few years ago.
A lot of people would not even walk in at first glance since it is very dated in appearance.

Well I did walk into El Pollo Norteno and am glad I did. I have no idea what they marinate their Tri-tip or chicken in
but it's a secret that they have had for decades. Now I make sure I bring a cooler with me and order a family
pack that is 1 LB of Tri-tip, a whole chicken, rice, piaquinto beans and awesome salsa.

It's a 320 mile round trip so the cooler keeps it nice and warm. I set up a quick couple of burritos for on the way home
and have a couple more when I arrive. With the family pack it's $44 but I can enjoy it all weekend.

 

Never heard or tried that. May have to give it a shot!

and set my timer for 5 minutes for hard 'boiled' eggs in my instant pot. I get my eggs fresh from a local guy and they were always a huge PITA to peel before because they were so fresh. I've had maybe 2 out of 100 that don't peel super easy after steaming. I do the quick release and drop them in ice water when done

 

When I was a little kid I pretended those were spaceships!

 

Wife uses the same steamer basket.

 

I did the same...It was more of a toy than a cooking utensil...I havent seen one in a long time.

Same here but I picked up a basket on a flash sale not long ago from Amazon.

Up to $23 (6 qt.) now but I'd still spend that much for another if I had to. Also finally got an

$12 OXO Good Grips Egg Slicer,White/Black, CD

egg slicer on that order, about time LOL.

Came back to TW looking for my gun club pot roast recipe that I made in the IP. I need to take better notes in Google Docs anything happens to this site I'm screwed

 

I've had one for years, to steam home grown asparagus. Or broccoli or cauliflower. Wife bought a microwave steamer, works just a good and faster.

 

I have a microwave rice steamer for the son, he eats a lot of rice it works well for that. Have an All Clad 5 Qt. steamer for the stove and 8 Qt. multicooker\steamer also. Although I end up grilling King Crab more than I do steaming them anymore. But there is still pasta.

Love asparagus but also grill that too, wrap the tips in bacon to prevent it from drying out. Because bacon and of course capsteak.



Looking forward to Spring\Summer and some fresh asparagus now. But it isn't home grown like I grew up with and you have

I was out and about and stopped at a local diner that's just around the corner from my house and for some reason I have never stopped there. Got this Cowboy Burger. Oh boy!

 

Dinner is steak with Swiss and sauteed onion, and smashed potato.

 

Cheddar grits with beer brauts and tomato gravy.

I think it was the lighting. They weren't that bright IRL.
