update on the kids hit in Portland

They arrested the driver but still don’t know who the kids are

I really want to know the story behind this.

What makes you mow down people in your truck.

 

Am I the only one that things this is wrong?

I am assuming all parties involved were doing something illegal. So no one is going to the cops for anything.

Here's the video uploaded by the guy who's surveillance recorded it.

 

If no one got hurt, and/or no one wants to take it to the system. The only people who should find issue is the property owner, if the incident damaged their property.

 

The city will likely pursue charges against the driver, even if the other people aren't found.

 

How? Why? If I was the driver, I'd say it was just a joke to get youtube views. End of story.

Go off and make a public comment like that and then the other 3 come out and say it wasnt just for laughs on their lie and then you are still going to jail.

 

The city has the right to press charges and arrest him if they suspect and have reason to do so. Hitting peds with your truck is a crime, leaving is a crime as well. The city arrested him on first degree assault charges. It will be hard to argue any form of self defense in this situation, being the driver of a vehicle hitting people who were moving in the opposite direction. The video shows a crime being committed, even if the parties involved don't come forward. Sometimes the local government decides not to pursue charges if they don't feel like it's necessary, like in a situation where it was amicable and say "it was a joke to get youtube views". If the other parties came forward and said that as well it might get dropped, unlikely though as it doesn't look like that and I doubt the city would ever believe that. I agree the whole thing seems shady, but it's still a crime to run people down with a vehicle.

 

Yep, we staged it as a joke on the homeowner because he's a real jerk. We knew he'd see it on his camera and that's why we did it there.
