    Hey guys,
I just recently purchased a 2018 Tacoma trd off-road with a standard transmission. At lower rpm it feels like a miss fire in one of my cylinders. Since this is my first Toyota I'm not sure if it's part of the vvt programming or do I need to get it to the shop. I do not have a check engine light or any open codes.

Common issue due to high compression on low octane gas. If you run 91 or better octane it will improve and may even disappear. There is no known fix.

The tacoma low rpm misfire is actually not as bad as the Ford 3.3 liter engine which has an even higher compression ratio.

check the OV Tune threads especially if you have a 6sp.

actually if you have a 6sp and enjoy driving it, then just get OV for the MT and thank me later.

    and welcome to TW. :)

What is your date of manufacture? Perhaps there is an updated factory flash that would help. Dig into the TSB threads for info...
