Does anyone know or can link to a chart that shows what size chains fit different tires? I just went up to 265/75r16 tires from my stock 265/70r16 and am curious if my chains from my stock tires will still be able to fit my new ones. I realize they are different size tires but curoius if theres any wiggle room in this case.

I do have 4WD but want to carry chains just in case when i do head into the moutains.

Just the essentials and no extra fluff.
Try installing them? You should be doing it anyway before you need them.

Once you get them on make sure they are well fitted. I’d advise getting bolt cutters and chain adjustment tool to accomplish this. You can make them fit perfectly if they are loose out of the box. Do this before you have a real need for them.

I upsized my tires like you, and I think I will need new chains. Here is the label from my old chains that fit the 265/70r16:

Look on the manufacturer's web site. Like mentioned, you should put them on anyway before you need too.

Slacking here... havent bought chains as I plan on changing tire size pretty soon. 31.5 now which Ill probably go up to 33 and eventually 35 if I am not getting the clearance I want. About how much of a range do most of these chains have?

You can also google tire chains and see what range of tire sizes each chain fits. That may not apply to your tains specifically, but it’ll give you an idea.

Finally a answer I’ve been looking for all day searching the web. I just picked up a set of quik grip v chains pt#QG2839 from a supplier at work and seem way to long, they said they’re for my 255x85x16 .I’m pretty sure they’ll work if i cut them down. I just haven’t seen anyone doing this so thought maybe they sold me the wrong ones. Any help is appreciated

Looking good. I prefer hooking that tensioners between the cross-links to keep the rails tight. That is of course if the rubber is short enough to be tight hooked that way.

Seems like I’m getting slap on the under side of the mud flap where it mounts to the fender would that way prevent that? I do have the v bar style so that makes them a little taller than regular chains

It could help because the rubber on the rung the way you have it doesn't pull evenly on other rungs. Also after you drive a little you can usually get the chains a little tighter because they settle in.
You don't have that much clearance to starr with. The downside of bigger tires.
