Hello. I am building my off road truck and interested in getting an LED rear chase light bar.

Probably mounted somewhere on the back window, or on the top edge of the truck bed near the cab.

What are the restrictions to be street legal? Certain colors? Certain brightness? This is a daily driver so its important to follow the rules :hattip:

Or should i just get any chase light i want and only switch it on for off road use?

I just did mine. All amber
On my last truck I had some with reds that were hooked up as brake lights

No flashing red or blue ever on the street

My truck broke down in traffic the other day and they def came in handy since it was around a blind corner220C67C1-648A-4D0D-87ED-24DFCF149EF5.jpg

Get what you want and run it offroad only. Even if they were legal, consider what would and wouldn't confuse the shit out of every other motorist on the road (which is basically anything). That said, they have worked for me as hazard lights before since I can flash and strobe all my stuff thanks to my switchpro...

@Baja Designs RTL is a great product that has worked for me.

Just having them installed, of course, is unlikely to be a problem. I would bet that using them while driving public streets, however, is not legal or at a minimum not recommended.

Flashing ambers denote you are having an emergency or to use caution. I don't think there are restrictions on how many ambers you can have flashing for said emergency situation.

You'd think red or amber would be fine as long as they aren't flashing since semi trailers are always loaded with them.

I would not do blue and yellow.
It is legal. Some counties are dick heads and make you put covers on but as long as you don't use them during the day and on the streets you should be fine

I would say stay away from blue (police) as well as green (fire dept.) I would just do amber (on and flashing) option.

For anyone curious, you can generally have anything provided they aren't in use on the road.

In Michigan, for example, you can only have white and amber facing forward and red and amber facing rear while on the road. License plate lights don't technically face rear and are mandated to be white. None can be flashing (for personal use) unless you're a plow driver for a business or something like that.
