Hi, I just joined. I recently lucked out and bought a low-mileage 2009 Tacoma which I like a lot.
Does the blinking red light (blinks non-stop when vehicle is not running, even when empty) with a key pic in the center an indication that there is a key still in the vehicle? Or what?

On the 3rd day I had it, the remote with 1 metal key attached dematerialized from this plane of existence. I have searched everywhere for it.
I even totally vacuumed everything in the interior, slid the seats all the way forward and back, etc., nothing.

That's just your security system. If nothing else, it means the doors are locked. Supposedly your system is alarmed and if someone breaks in, Batman swoops from on high and nails the Joker.

Cannot help you with the remote, but I got my wife this: https://www.thetileapp.com/

I just bought a new remote for my 2011 on Amazon. Search "Key Fob Keyless Entry Remote fits Toyota Tacoma Tundra Sienna Sequoia Highlander (GQ43VT20T 3-Btn)"

Wow, I found no mention of an alarm system in the manual or how to turn it off. I hate those things that always go off for no good reason. Can I disable it?
Yes, I bought a fancy pair of key finders after this happened.

It's the engine immobilizer system, p. 76 of your manual. Don't believe you can immobilize it.

Oh yeah I read about the immobilizer. That's fine with me. I just don't need an obnoxious alarm.
