I did a lot of stuff in my setup to remove unused wires from the Maestro harness for my build. This helped me get a very flexible & thin harness. I also integrated very little OEM stuff so I split the factory harness apart and stuffed the wires I don’t use out of the way.

    Thanks for your hel

Any reason specific reason why the stock mic won't work? my truck didn't come with GPS but installed a Toyota unit with NAV from another thread here and it worked with my shark fin (i'm assuming that's where GPS is), would i have to use a GPS adapter? does backup camera work too?

If you do not have the JBL system, you can get by with the 70-1761 harness, and whichever brand of steering wheel control adapter you want. The maestros and PAC modules work best, but Axxess has plug and play harnesses available that I enjoy.

Oh, and of course the mounting kit.

There is a thread on here about a device you can use to retain the stock mic, but without that, it’s not an easy task.

There is a GPS antenna adapter and an XM antenna adapter (they are different)

If your camera displays on the radio, there is an adapter for that (maybe cam-ty11 or cam-ty12 ?)
If the cam is in the mirror, there’s not a harness for it but if you don’t mind a little splicing, it can be moved to the new radio

thanks. reading that thread now. My camera displays on the radio so i'll check the adapters for that. gonna start doing a little homework on this topic and see if it's something i can do myself. the unit i have is starting to act up on me so it's time to replace it.

Yeah, you “can” do it pretty cheap and easy, but the adapters definitely add up.

For steering wheel controls, I like the maestro SW the most, because it gets programmed on the computer which is by far the easiest way. All buttons can be customized, and you can use both short presses and long presses (short press for volume down, long press for mute, etc)
It just requires some splicing into the factory wiring.

If you want an easier install but less customization and no long press functions, the axxess aswc-1 is easy with the available harness.

You need the mounting kit no matter what. You need the antenna adapter no matter what.
Since you’re getting a CarPlay/AndroidAuto unit, I would get the USB adapter to retain the factory usb plug if you have one.

So as long as you careful tuck the wires way into the dash the avic8200nex will fit in a 2013 non jbl Tacoma?
