I flashed my truck last night and observed the same thing after using Techstream to reset learned values and letting the truck idle.

What do you recommend for those that don't have techstream?

Do you have a pdf of that section in the service manual?

Not trying to be a dick, but the drive cycle you describe is the last part of the learning procedure that you would use ***IF*** the learning value reset followed by warm 5 minute idle did not result in specified idle speed.
You just know this will get out of hand because people will not actually read that SM procedure and do this stuff for no reason.

You are correct - that is how it is specified in the service manual. NOTE: No one has indicated performing this idle learn procedure is required at any time and certainly not OVTune. My logic, however, says that since Mat often notes that after a new flash the truck needs to "relearn idle" that performing the procedure called out in the manual would be the ideal way to efficiently complete that cycle before getting on the highway or anything....

There is one very important fact in that procedure, and it's been the subject of debate/argument in the thread for some time. Now we know the truth - Idle learning needs a warm engine. It DOES matter. Read it people.
Also, if someone decides to go ahead and do the third part of the procedure (drive cycle), that's their business. It shouldn't be thought of as necessary though, unless the conditions are not met in the first two steps.

You can definitely tell when it doesn’t drive “right”. Doing the correct process yielded night and day difference with the throttle response for me. It’s not BS

If some sort of parameter clearing is suggested after a flash can the new flash manager handle that step?

Thanks for sharing this. Just to be clear, we should reset learned values after a new flash correct?

Good point, not everyone will have to do it. Right now my idle is smooth but just above 500 so I think I'll need to do it.

Will the textronic cable work with tech stream? If so does anyone have a suggestion on where to get the techstream software?

@Oscar I Yes,the cable and the OBDII adapter/plug from the tune kit will work with Techstream. If you do a search here you should be able to find a link to a free downloadable version.
