Lexus, Porsche, and Toyota round out the Top 3 auto manufacturers in terms of reliability according to a recent J.D. Power study. I thought this would be fitting to post here considering the study began with the 2016 model year, which falls in line with first year of the 3rd Generation Tacoma.

Pretty sure Chevrolet is most reliable. I just saw something on TV about this.

Not bad if you consider Nissan has had nearly two decades to perfect the Frontier.

Was it the Chevy ad saying that Chevy was most reliable?

Did they actually define what the Chevy was most reliable for?

"You can rely on the fact that this xxx Chevy will be a POS in 10 years..."

Chevy was in fact most reliable in the HD pickup and compact SUV category. The 2019 study results show the 2016 Chevy Equinox was more reliable over 3 years than the Toyota RAV4, for example.

Note the 2016 Tacoma with all the first-year teething issues didn't even make it to the top 3 in the midsize pickup segment.

Also note the 2016 4Runner didn't make it either, despite being 6 years after its redesign. The Chevy Traverse had fewer issues over 3 years than the 4Runner.

Lol...my 2016 Toyota caught itself on fire and took most of the garage with it. Not very reliable these days.

So long as all the major carmakers pay them, that isn't where the statistics are questionable. :) There are two major shortcomings with the JD Power dependability study:
    1) Big problems and small annoyances are counted together. A head unit that doesn't import iPhone playlists consistently is counted the same way as a rear diff that grenades.
    2) The study covers only the first 3 years of ownership. If you want to avoid certain brands because your last Chrysler blew its transmission shortly after the powertrain warranty expired, this survey won't help you. Hell, you can stop changing the engine oil and it'll probably last 3 years before dying of sludge... Unfortunately, as short as it is, the JD Power study is still the most reliable survey out there. There are other stats published by companies that sell extended warranties, but coverage is spotty.
