Ford F-150 recalls 1.48 million pickups due to crash concern

    https://www.freep.com/story/money/cars/2019/02/13/ford-f-150-pickup-recall-accidents/2857572002/

Some 2011-13 Ford F-150 vehicles with 6-speed automatic transmissions may experience "an intermittent loss of the transmission output speed sensor signal to the powertrain control module, potentially resulting in a temporary, unintended downshift into first gear." Depending on vehicle speed, a downshift to first gear without warning could result in a loss of control.

If so then they are misinformed. The parking pawl isn't an adequate substitute for the e-brake. I dont disagree with you about the safety issue, just that using park as a substitute for the e-brake is ok anywhere other than flatsville. Habits form from repetition so even if you live in flatsville you might vacation in Colorado. Set the damn brake, use the damn signals, look over your shoulder instead of just the mirror, quit being a lazyasfuck statistical wannabe. Not directed at you specifically unless any of the above apply.

Not Ranger-related, but it's interesting they are just seeing this problem now, 8 years later.

Lowest common denominator. I immediately thought of the person who is not mechanically inclined.

    Yes, my thought also.

More likely the people that decide not to bother for no better reason than they don't feel like it and aren't aware of the risk. Lots of mechanically inclined people aren't auto mechanics. Lots more forgot or weren't listening to the admonition in driver's ed to use it, never took driver's ed, or even knowing the risk won't use it. Enough on that though, my soap box is riddled with termites.

I sat in the ranger this weekend at the auto show. It was underwhelming to say the least. Interior materials felt low grade. The Ford section happened to be next to the Kia section. The Kia definitely had the edge interior wise.

The Ranger had no storage behind the rear seat which I found strange since I use mine daily. The F150 was right next to it. They definitely don't share materials. The F150 was far superior. I imagine the rangers retail is over inflated and you'll be able to get a lot off MSRP, because the asking price compared with similar seemed way too high.

Nice review. Seemed pretty unbiased in their criticisms. Ford didn't help their cause much though. For a truck that's been in developement and foreign markets this long there were some pretty obvious swing and misses at what is essentially a tee ball. I can see how they put the Chevy on top for overall performance. Given how long these companies have been in continuous operation it shouldnt take so long to sort out obvious things like shift hunting and fold down seats. Corporate must pay themselves too much and everyone else too little.

I work for a GM dealership and I can’t believe how inept corporate is. I don’t think their departments communicate with each other at all.

I stopped watching the video after they showed the in cabin storage on the Ranger. What a fucking joke. Ford sure as hell didn’t bother.

    Save me a test drive.

Seems like the Colorado has that same goofy style back seat, I really appreciate the split folding rear seat with storage behind and under the seat.

the only thing the ranger has is torque and power potential as that motor is easy to mod. but not sure how much of a time bomb that motor/trans combo is.

hopefully they don't screw up the bronco.
