Yup they seem to work well and dont seem to fill up too fast. Plus if you buy them on Amazon you cn find the off brand ones and get them for 2-3 bucks each. Wont be exact fits but work just as well

Your outlet (one that goes to the vacuum) tube might be too long and you're not allowing the dust to settle out in the vortex and thus you're getting dust int your vacuum. My assumption was made because the right side of your picture shows a tube that is very dusty.

In that photo it look like the input is blowing down. That might be causing the dust to move around instead of settle. The suction to the shop vac should be centered very near the top of the bucket.

Better, they are free on thingverse. If you don't have a 3D printer there are places that will print and mail to you for a fee.

I also have one of the Air Filtration Units that Im surprised how well it actually works. I have this one (but got it on sale for ~$100). Really filters out anything floating in the air. With that and the dust collecting vacuum systems it keeps stuff down.

Nice! I'll have to wait for it to go on sale. My trailer in the garage is covered in dust
Edit: Home Depot has it for 126

Just another thing to spend money on lol. Its definitely not fancy or probably even the best. But for ~130 bucks it works decently. The timer is nice too as just let it run for 2-4 hours after you are done.

I think you're right. I will shorten the vacuum tube. Makes total sense that is in the path of the dust coming in. I'll report back after I do that. Thank you!

I have the Grizzly version and I too was surprised how well it works. Scored it for $40 at a yard sale.

Morning y'all. Stoked to have just stumbled across this thread!

I'm currently restoring an 1888 farmhouse in central Virginia. My wife and I bought it back in September and hope to be moved in this April.

We gutted it to the studs, lifted it off of the fieldstones it was built on, gave her a nice foundation and sat her back down. Did a little framing to add bathrooms and closets, since those were not a thing in 1888. She'll have all new systems i.e. plumbing/electrical/HVAC. I'm an excavating contractor by trade and am doing large parts of the scope of work myself, but also subbed out plumbing/electrical/HVAC and some carpentry since there are only 24 hours in a day, and you know, it's hard to afford to do this kind of thing if you quit your job....ha.

    Incredible!

What's a ball park cost figure on lifting the house like that?

    38k.

Edited to say: That included the footing and foundation.

    That's what I was figuring...

I can't wait to see what you do with the floors. What's your plan for them?

Refinishing all of them. They're old growth heart of pine, so we're hoping to leave them natural. But that may not be possible, they've seen A LOT of use. Depends on how good they look after sanding. If they're too stained from light, heat from the woodstoves, stuff like that, we may have to stain them.

Will do! It's a labor of love, but at this point I'm ready to be done, move in, and buy truck parts....

$38,000 piece of mind! If I ever move back to the east coast I'll keep this in mind for the houses I look at. Yours is going to be a nice one. :hattip:

Swap out that flexible dryer duct, too. That plastic/foil type is a fire hazard. Would be a good time to clean the rigid ducting to the exterior vent as well.
