What are you all carrying in your Pelican/Plano etc cases whether mounted to your roof rack or just in your bed.

Straps? Spare gear, extra parts and tools?

And what are some good cases, I see Plano seems to be a go to reliable and good price.

You’re supposed to put stuff in them? I thought they were just for looks.

I mean isn't that what all the "cool" offroading gear attached to racks are for...looks

But really I was just asking in general like I keep tools n straps behind my rear seats, I was wondering what most ppl keep in the gun case. If it were just a better, bigger space to carry extra crap and better organized or if there was something special hidden inside

I keep all the stuff up there I always found myself reaching for and having to unpack to get to under the seats when my truck was packed for a trip. Jumper cables, air inflate/deflate items, hitch, bike rack tools, fuel and water spigots, and the hammock/straps. I have my recovery items in a separate bag I keep in the bed in a big red husky contractor bag. That way I can lug them out of the bed and to where I need them.

I really wish the bench in the back folded up instead of forwards like the F150s so if you had stuff in the footwells, you could avoid the unpacking game.

I'm definitely a fan of Pelican. Have a few cases and lights. I wanted Pelican cases on the roof rack but opted for the Plano. Was cheaper and a bit lighter also. Been up there for about a year so far and have no complaints. One has a lot of my recovery gear in it and the other is empty most of the time unless I put random stuff in it on trips.

I keep two folding chairs in the rifle case on my rack. They are easy to get to and don't get dirt on everything else when stored in a separate box like that. All the most used gear has a dedicated place. Recovery stuff behind the driver seat, winch controller in center console, deflators in glove box.

I drilled four holes and attached it to my Prinsu rack using short carriage bolts.

Any concerns over the water tightness of it? I’d love to find a way to securely tie it down without having to drill into it. But also not have it be incredibly easy to get stolen.. :notsure:

Whatever you put up there, keep heavy stuff in the bed. Parts/tools etc... Keeps your CG as low as possible.

I've seen a lot of people keep all their crap on top of the rack, I guess so they can keep the bed clear, but I'd rather have a lower CG than a clear bed...

I'm considering a case up top too. Looking at the 42" plano cases im getting different external specs for the height of the case. What's the thinnest plano case coming in at? 5.5/6"? The pelican cases are pretty thick, deep case.
