I talked with a dent repair shop and he told me there’s a brace behind where this dent is and that the whole door would have to be reskinned. Anyone know of a trick to pop this out? It doesn’t have to be perfect.

Thats going to need a body shop. It’s right on the line that top dent, so it will always be creased.

Large magnetic oval of something really stupid like Wiley E Coyote . Won’t pull the dent but at least you can laugh every time you get in your truck.

A good PDR guy could get most of it out, maybe hot glue something to it and pull it out

I had similar hit, but on drivers rear door. My paint/body guy sanded it down, worked the metal they best they could then used body filler to reshape the curve.

I was having the whole truck gone over and repainted, not sure what the charge was for that part, buts it's fixable.

What I would try is I would take the panel off the door, take out the speaker and get a small piece of wood like a 2x2, maybe even sand down one of the edges so it’s a circular. Then hold it horizontal with the line of the door (from inside the door) and hit the wood with a hammer. I’m sure you could get that dent mostly out but it won’t be perfect. Maybe a rubber mallet would be soft enough but you still would want it to punch out uniform and not look like a mallet hit it

I don’t think you’d want to hit it with a hammer or anything hard directly onto the skin. The trick is to use wood to soften the blow. Maybe even a powerful magnet attached to it will pull it out, you can try a suction like a plunger but it may be beyond that

I would put cloth down or cardboard so not to scratch your paint then a powerful magnet on top of it, you can buy one of those big ones that people use for magnet fishing then return it after you use it.

Apparently I can’t hammer it out from the inside because there’s a brace along the inside of the door behind the dent. That’s what I was told by the dent pulling place so I think I just need to pop the door panel off and see what I’m working with.

If the PDR guy says it can’t be easily popped out, it can’t be easily popped out.
The metal is stretched so PDR could only do so much. You’ll still be able to see the creases in the dent.

That is a job for conventional body repair. Pull out the dent with a stud welder, fill, sand, prime and paint. No one will ever know. Otherwise see if you can remove the scuffs and leave it alone as "character". Nothing looks worse than a bad attempt at bodywork.

^^ what @PackCon said . . . I used TacomaRacingDev's approach on my wife's old Blazer for a very similar dent as yours. It popped the dent out but the metal was still ripply due to stretching. We didn't care at the time because that area always had some sort of dirt on it due to having a long dirt driveway. You can try it yourself if you don't care if it's perfect. Otherwise I'd get a pro to do it.

Pay someone. Where it is, it will just look like shi+ doing it yourself and if the rest of the truck is nice, which it seems to be, will probably haunt you a bit until you do what you should have done in the first place.

Just because there may be a brace behind a dent doesn't mean it's not repairable. However, that's bad,and right through the bodyline. I've done PDR for 21yrs,and could probably get MOST of that out.

The cheapest, fastest route and make it somewhat less noticeable is black rattlecan plastidipped strip along the bottom from crease line down to cover the dent. Of course you will have to do the other side to match but you can always peel it off if you don't like it.

You definitely need to find a better dent repair shop. The LAST thing you want is to reskin that door, and the last thing a competent body shop would EVER suggest for that is to do something that radical. I got sideswiped several years ago by a blind guy driving one of those crappy white vans in that same area. Was WAY the hell worse. Body shop was exceptional, fixed the shape of the skin right back to original and smooth NO BONDO. Can't even tell it happened. I frankly think that these guys were magicians.

Obviously the inside door panel has to come off, and that will provide all the access needed to push the skin back out.

The problem with reskinning the door is that the sealer used between the panel and the frame is supposed to be applied using a vacuum process that can't be duplicated outside of the factory. You'll never get a proper seal and it will deteriorate quickly and rust.
